Jim Parsons took home his fourth Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series this year for his performance as Dr. Sheldon Cooper on The Big Bang Theory.

Parsons beat out Don Cheadle of House of Lies, Louis C.K. of Louie, Ricky Gervais of Derek, Matt LeBlanc of Episodes, and William H. Macy of Shameless. Emmy voters don’t determine the winner of a category based on his performances over the course of an entire season, but rather on the strength of a single episode. Parsons submitted Season 7, Episode 20, “The Relationship Diremption,” which you can stream at CBS.comHulu PlusAmazon Instant Video, and iTunes.

During his speech, Parsons made a point to thank his late father for supporting his career.
