Updated Jan. 9: The Jan. 3 fire at Tyreek Hill’s house — caused by two children playing with a lighter they thought was a toy — caused $2.3 million in damages, according to the incident report obtained by TMZ Sports.

More than $1 million worth of items were damaged as well, the outlet reported.

Hill bought the house in 2022 for $6.9 million and it was valued at $5.6 million before the fire, per TMZ.

The child who started the fire was 4, according to the incident report. Another toy was lit on fire, and the kids, scared, threw it and ran, authorities said.

According to the audio of the 911 call concerning the fire, a woman reportedly wanted to attempt to extinguish the flames herself.

“Should I throw water in there?” the woman asked the dispatcher.

“No. I need for you to get everyone outside. I need for you guys to get to safety,” the dispatcher responded.

Everyone did make it out of the fire safely, but the woman asked again if she should try to put the fire out herself, to which the operator replied, “Do not try to put that fire out. Do not carry out anything that is on fire, O.K.?”

Updated Jan. 4: Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill and his family are safe after a two-alarm fire began in their home Wednesday afternoon. Investigators said that a child playing with a lighter has been preliminarily determined as the cause, according to CBS News Miami.

Hill’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, told local media that the fire was contained to “a limited area in the home” and that some of Hill’s family members were in the house when the fire started. All family members are safe; beyond the hole that was burned in Hill’s roof, the damage in the home will be limited to smoke and water damage, per Rosenhaus. He added that Hill would not comment on the fire and requested privacy.

Many of the bedrooms, a home theater, and a den were located in the upstairs of the home, according to the property listing obtained by ESPN.

Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa said his thoughts are will Hill and his family during Wednesday’s media availability. Tagovailoa was notified about the fire after Wednesday’s practice.

“I think that would be difficult for, not just my teammates, but for anyone in general to be going through what Tyreek is going through right now,” Tagovailoa said. “I think the main thing is his family is safe. His loved ones are good. He’s good as well. I know it’s a little cliché to say, but those things like that — part of the house, some of those things can be replaceable. I’m just glad that a lot of his family members are safe.”

A two-alarm fire broke out at the home of Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill, according to WSVN Miami.

Davie Fire Rescue arrived at the home to put out the fire. Aerial footage from 7Skyforce shows the fire burned a hole through the roof of Hill’s home. According to WSVN, nobody was inside the home when the fire began. Crews have yet to identify any source for the fire.

According to Miami Herald’s Daniel Oyefusi, Hill was made aware of the fire while at practice. He has since arrived at the house sporting a walking boot on his left foot. His family is reportedly OK. No injuries were reported.

According to property records obtained by WSVN, Hill purchased the Southwest Ranches mansion in 2022 for $6.9 million.

Hill leads the NFL with 1,717 receiving yards, and is second with 12 TDs.
