Chris Smith and Elizabeth Ho have been cast as the leads in NBC‘s untitled Matt Hubbard comedy pilot, from former 30 Rock co-executive producer Hubbard and Parks & Recreation and Brooklyn Nine-Nine co-creator/executive producer Mike Schur. The single-camera project revolves around Andrew (Smith) and Josie (Ho), a happily married interracial couple whose lives take a turn when they move close to Josie’s family in Missouri. Andrew is a likable nerd, a lawyer, while Josie is hard-charging woman who has never failed at anything.
Hubbard wrote the project, loosely based on his life, and executive produces with Schur and 3 Arts’ David Miner.
Smith previously played the main lead in the CBS comedy series We Are Men and co-starred in CBS’ pilot Taxi-22, both single-camera. In features, he starred in Paranormal Activity 3 and had supporting roles in Nicole Holofcener’s Enough Said and Mira Nair’s The Reluctant Fundamentalist. He is repped by UTA, Principato-Young Entertainment and attorney Melissa Fox.
Ho, whose series credits include Rake and Melissa & Joey, is repped by the Stone Manners Salners Agency and Vincent Cirrincione & Assoc.
