🚀 6G Research is in full swing 🚀 Last week we attended the 6G Conference in Berlin, where we took part in some great discussions and various presentations with Germany’s leading experts in #6G research. We were able to share our latest research results from the 6G-LICRIS and 6G-ADLANTIK projects that we are coordinating, with governmental, university and industry partners. Many thanks to the Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung for funding these projects. At the 6G-ADLANTIK booth we demonstrated high bandwidth data transmission at THz frequencies generated by photonics, jointly with our collaboration partners, TOPTICA Photonics , Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute HHI, Microwave Photonics GmbH, Technische Universität Berlin and SPINNER Group. At the 6G-LICRIS booth we demonstrated various prototypes of RIS, based on liquid crystals for the mmWave range, based on PCB structures with PIN diodes, and fixed beam structures made by IMST. Great keynote session yesterday at the Berlin 6G Conference when Christina Gessner, Executive Vice-President at Rohde & Schwarz, discussed how 6G technologies will contribute to resilience, security and sustainability of societies in the opening session with the German Federal Minister Bettina Stark-Watzinger. As XR applications continue to proliferate, and 5G evolves toward laying the groundwork for 6G, a myriad of possibilities will emerge. How can we begin to approach this expansive application space from a test and measurement standpoint? Testing XR applications demands more than just emulating 3GPP XR features; it is necessary to take a holistic approach and focus on optimizing the entire system for XR-based services and experiences. Rohde & Schwarz has joined the AI-RAN Alliance and will contribute its T&M expertise to this newly formed collaborative initiative to unlock the potential of AI for wireless communications. The AI-RAN Alliance was formed a few months ago at MWC Barcelona with the goal to advance radio access network (RAN) performance and mobile networks with artificial intelligence. For us, this membership marks a significant milestone on the road to 6G, and it takes our ongoing collaboration with industry leaders like NVIDIA to the next level.
