Director of Curved Graphene (m/f/x)

with the vision to match our ambition!

Skeleton Technologies is seeking an experienced Director of Curved Graphene (m/f/x) who will be responsible for building and operating a mass production plant for our unique material curved graphene. You would be responsible for the equipment, auxiliaries, and building specifications, procurement, installation, successful ramp-up and a stable production! You would work closely with engineers, architects, and other production and construction professionals to ensure that the plant is built according to the specifications, on time, within budget, and having safety as a priority.

The plant and the role is located in Bitterfeld-Wolfen, Germany.

Your tasks in the net zero journey:

  • Design and Engineering: Plant and equipment design, process flows. Adhering to safety, environmental and regulatory standards in all design aspects; Ensuring that all needed permits are acquired
  • Procurement and Vendor Management: Select appropriate vendors for equipment, building, materials, and technology required for carbon synthesis. Manage relationships, negotiations, and procurement processes
  • Product COGS and Process Optimization: Apply chemical engineering principles to optimize the carbon synthesis process for efficiency, yield, and quality; Plan, set strategies, and hit the COGS targets (plan together with finances the OPEX and CAPEX)
  • Run the plant successfully: operate the plant and produce in time (OTIF) and in cost target (hit the COGS target) to guarantee that our SuperCapactitor and SuperBattery plants can produce
  • Develop the best-performing material: continuously optimize our curved graphene material with our material development team. Run our pilot production line to ensure the manufacturability of the new developed material.
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance: Establish quality control measures to ensure the final product meets specifications and quality standards; Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, permits, and environmental guidelines
  • Budget management: Manage the project budget, track expenditures, ensure cost control; Provide regular budget updates to senior management.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and challenges in the project and develop mitigation strategies; Address unforeseen issues
  • Stakeholder Communication: Clear and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders; Regular updates on the project
  • Commissioning and Start-Up: Lead the commissioning process, ensure all systems and equipment function as planned; Oversee the start-up of the new plant, and coordinate operational procedures and training
  • Leadership and Team Management: Lead and motivate a diverse team, foster collaboration, set goals, provide feedback, and support development. Manage performance, resolve conflicts, and ensure effective communication for team and organizational success


Requirements

  • Master's degree in chemical engineering or related field
  • Proven experience in managing complex engineering projects within the chemical industry (preferably with hot-chlorine gases or silicon)
  • Strong project management skills, including project planning, resource allocation, and risk management
  • Experience with toxic gases (such as chlorine) and Hydrogen is a plus
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations, safety protocols, and environmental standards
  • Excellent leadership and team management capabilities
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances
  • Hands-on mentality, ready to work with the processes on your own
  • Business English skill is required
  • Ability to visit the site of the plant on a continuous basis in Bitterfeld-Wolfen. It is a rather on-site role, so proximity to the plant as a residence or relocation to the Leipzig area would be required.


Any single or a combination of the following experiences/skills is a bonus:

  • In-depth knowledge of chemical construction
  • Previous site management experience
  • Knowledge of German construction regulatory and permitting requirements (BauO, BImSchV, BImSchG)
  • German language would be highly beneficial
