So, it is largely assumed that you already know your shareholder base. You have full Access to the fund names and the managers as well as the retail investors… But guess what, in Turkey, you get to see your shareholder base a maximum of three times; definitely once for the AGM, maybe a second time if you decide to…
There is so much talk on shareholder targeting and how to go about doing the targeting, but nobody really talks about where to start and how to get to the point to do the how-to. So, it is largely assumed that you already know your shareholder base. You have full Access to the fund names and the managers as well as the retail investors… But guess what, in Turkey, you get to see your shareholder base a maximum of three times; definitely once for the AGM, maybe a second time if you decide to distribute dividends, and just in case you are in for a capital increase, then a third time. Other than that, you are basically left with guess work. If you are one of the lucky ones with access to a Reuters or Bloomberg Terminal, great, you get to see all the institutional ones according to their last public filing date, which is not necessarily current, but it is helpful. So this is my point of view and how I have gone around the IR targeting strategy, with the means available to me.
