Project goals
• Mobile network enhancement by the following targets :
1- Curtailment the mobile network to a SOC system on chip which support the cellular mobile coverage to users as an open BS
2- Increasing system capacity by allowing a new users to attach to the new BS base station
3- Cover the rural areas , oasis roads , high ways , and solve problem of lack of coverage in some areas
4- Spectral efficiency and reuse the finite resources using energy detection techniques…Project goals

Project advantages
1- Lower cost compared to the whole base station by about 1/10
2- Small size
3- Easy to configure and maintenance
4- Low power consumption
5- GSM handhelds compatible
Project over view
Our project aim is to enhance mobile cellular system by
Efficient use of spectrum using cognitive radio and spectrum
Sensing techniques implemented over USRP board … and by
One of the energy detection techniques we will determine
Whether a particular set of frequency channel are vacant or
Occupied.. Then allow the RBS to use these set of channels to
Transmit and receive users signals.. Also we are going to use
The PCS 1900 band after modifying it to a new one free from
Interference with the downlink of DCS 1800 and the uplink of
UMTS 2100 bands
This idea will offer about 50 available new vacant carriers
And about 400 voice calls simultaneously
Project Impact
• Spectrum utilization and enhancement ( new PCS 1900 band )or the exits gsm 900 and 1800 bands
• Efficient usage of frequency resources ( cognitive radio )
• Allow a new technology of open RBS which solve the bad and poor coverage problems
• Capacity increasing and system performance improvements
