#Collaborative #QuickTips: Diversity and Inclusion in the worksplace D&I in the workplace is more than the just the background of coworkers. In this modern remote/hybrid world, collaboration around different time zones is the backbone of D&I. Tip #1: Always be aware of the time zone of your counterpart. This is key to build a strong relationship where respect, empathy and understanding will be the healthy foundation of a long lasting and productive relationship. Tip #2: Do not be afraid or ashamed to communicate that the meeting you have been invited to is “too late” or “too early” in your time zone. Your health will always come first. Do you agree? At Meta, we've just shared results from our first quarter of 2024. As Mark Zuckerberg said, “It’s been a good start to the year.” Here are some of the highlights; 🌎 We continue to see strong engagement across our apps, and estimate that more than 3.2 billion people use at least one of our apps each day. 🚀 Our investments in AI continue to pay off for advertiser performance. Revenue flowing through our AI-powered tools, Advantage+ Shopping and Advantage+ App Campaigns, has more than doubled since last year. 🎞️ On Instagram, Reels alone now makes up about 50% of time spent within the app. 👍 About 30% of the posts on Facebook feed are delivered by our AI recommendation system. That's up 2x over the last two years! And for the first time ever, more than 50% of the content people see on Instagram is AI recommended. 🤖 The initial rollout of Meta AI is going well, and tens of millions of people have already tried it. Over the long term, we believe that eventually, every business on our platform will use a business AI to help customers buy things and get customer support. 🧵Threads continues to see good traction and now has more than 150 million monthly actives. These results were made possible by the strength of our partners, communities we serve and teams working at Meta. I’m incredibly optimistic and excited about the investments we’re making to continue powering growth for businesses across the world.

📌 Pinterest Q1 earnings: our fastest user and revenue growth since 2021 📌 Last night we announced our latest earnings results. Quoting our CEO Bill Ready: We kicked off 2024 with a milestone Q1. 1️⃣ We passed the half a billion monthly active users mark (518M). 2️⃣ We achieved $740 million in revenue, an increase of 23 percent and nearly double the growth rate of the previous quarter. 3️⃣ Gen Z, our fastest growing and most engaged audience, is also our largest. All of this is largely driven by our investments in AI and the continuous value we’re creating for advertisers in the lower funnel, which reflects in successful performance campaigns. In Germany for example, when switching to direct links, C&A increased their outbound clicks by 130% and reduced cost per outbound click by 57%.

CEOs of AI startups backed by Microsoft and Amazon are the new tech rockstars Arthur Mensch, the CEO of Mistral AI and Dario Amodei, the CEO of Anthropic were in the spotlight at Viva Tech in Paris. Both lead companies backed by U.S. tech giants. Helped by his associates, Mensch was spotted quickly exiting the event, in what appeared to be an attempt to avoid interactions with any media or people in attendance. Amodei was surrounded by people with cameras and by other attendees as soon as he left the VIP lounge. PARIS — It’s not unusual for well-known technology CEOs to be mobbed by fans or start-up founders looking to make connections at industry conferences around the world. But it wasn’t the high-profile names getting swarmed. Instead, it was the founders of some of the world’s hottest and newest artificial intelligence startups getting all the attention — and trying to bat it away. VivaTech, one of Europe’s biggest tech shows, enjoyed the attendance of Arthur Mensch, the co-founder and CEO of Mistral AI and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei. Just over a year old, Mistral AI is a French startup that has raised hundreds of millions of dollars and the backing of Microsoft. The company is valued at $2 billion, but several recent reports suggest that it is seeking more funding at a $6 billion valuation. Roku Wants To Use Home Screen For New Types of Ads: An anonymous reader quotes a report from The Streamable: Roku wants to take the term "ad-supported" to another level. The company held its quarterly earnings conference call on Thursday, and revealed that 81.6 million households used a Roku device or smart TV to stream video in the first three months of the year. As part of the report, company CEO Anthony Wood laid out ideas for how the company would increase revenues in 2024. Unsurprisingly, advertising will be an important centerpiece of that strategy, and Wood provided some details on what Roku users can expect from their ad experience going forward. The idea of bringing more ads to the Roku home screen is nothing new, but that's what Wood focused on in his discussion with analysts about how to boost revenue on the Roku platform. The company has already begun putting more static ads on the screen, but now it appears that Roku is considering how to get video ads embedded into the home page as well. Wood said that he believes that a video-enabled ad unit on the Roku home screen will be "very popular with advertisers," considering that Roku devices have the reach to put ads in front of 120 million pairs of eyes every day. He also said that the company is "testing other types of video ad units, looking at other experiences" that it can bring to the Roku home screen. As another way to boost ad revenues, Wood suggested that the company's home screen experiences could be leveraged to deliver more ads. He pointed to the NBA Zone, which Roku launched at the beginning of April as an example. Roku can use these themed content hubs to deliver ads more tailored to fans of that particular content, harnessing the power of popular sports to pull more ad revenue. Customers concerned that Roku will just gunk up their home screen with ads are likely wondering if the company has made any moves toward actually making the user experience on the platform better. The good news is that Roku has also introduced a recommended content row, that will compile picks from across various streaming services and use AI to point customers toward new shows and movies they might like. "There's lots of ways we're working on enhancing the home screen to make it more valuable to viewers but also increase the monetization," Wood said. Read more of this story at Slashdot.
