Earlier this year, we launched a mentorship program connecting our F.A.M.E. (Female Ambassadors and Mentors in Engineering) members with seven talented women from ReDi School's Digital Career Program. Now that the program is coming to an end, we asked our mentors to share their experiences and insights as they guide their mentees starting careers in the tech field 🚀 Here's what Carolina, a project manager at trivago and mentor in the program, shared with us: “Through my experience as a mentor in the ReDi program, I have witnessed the incredible journey of my mentee, Gul. She transitioned from a social worker to a junior project manager in a prominent enterprise in Frankfurt. It has been truly inspiring to see the positive impact of instilling the belief that if others have achieved it, so can she. Sharing the ups and downs of this journey and having a reflection partner has allowed us to gain perspective and approach challenges with a candid and resilient mindset. "Back in 2019 when I was a student, a friend invited me to an event hosted by his employer – trivago. Not only did I have a great time at the event, I also got a great impression of trivago’s culture from the people and this made me want to be part of the company. Thanks to trivago’s employee referral program, my friend referred me to his team and luckily, I got the job offer as a working student in the Data Center Operations team. In my early days, I learned about trivago’s digital databases and servers and ensured they were performing optimally. Upon finishing my master’s degree, I took the chance to join our Sales and Account Management team and started my journey as an Account Manager. As a newbie in the team, I had to learn everything about how we work with our advertising partners and acquire a broad range of skills from analytical to presentation, communication, and negotiation. Through the great support from my colleagues and adequate training programs, I got the hang of my job quickly. Over the past 3+ years, I have managed partnerships with numerous key players in the travel industry and traveled across continents to represent trivago in meetings and trade fairs.
