From Waste to Worth 🌾 Did you know that traceless® materials are made from plant residues of the agricultural industry? We select by-products that are no longer suitable for food production, ensuring we avoid any conflict with food supply and thereby deforestation—an important consideration as the global population continues to grow. From the residues of starch production to leftover grains from beer brewing, these materials still harbor valuable nutrients, essential for creating our innovative traceless® granules. Moreover, our production process completely avoids toxic, synthetic, or fossil-based additives. This ensures our material can fully decompose in nature without leaving any (toxic) traces behind, just as nature intended. ♻ How can plastics and packaging be designed and produced in a healthy, useful and circular way? We had the chance to discuss this question as part of a panel at the last #C2C event in Berlin! The event was organized by Cradle to Cradle NGO (C2C NGO) as part of their event series in #Berlin. traceless is rooted in the #C2C concept, therefore, joining their events always feels a bit like a family reunion for us. This time it was even about a topic in which we feel completely at home: Circular solutions around packaging and plastics! 🎤 Our Head of Impact Communications Isabel Thoma gave a short impulse presentation about what we do at traceless, and joined a panel discussion, moderated by Isabel Gomez. And that panel was a colourful one, as it brought together perspectives of brand owners, manufacturers, new business model providers and material innovation: Dr. Alexander von Niessen by CHOCAL Packaging Solutions, Shawn Lowery-Smith by momox and Ole Scharpen by Vytal | Das Mehrwegsystem. It was embedded in contributions by Heiner K. by momox, Tim Janßen by C2C, as well as Tamara Lüdke and Martin Schäfer contributing a political perspective. Our takeaway: The circular revolution is in full swing, with many different solutions that add up to a big picture - a world in which products have a positive impact, instead of following the old take-make-waste system. 🤔 Ever wondered what goes into that shiny coating on paper products? Traditional methods often use synthetic plastics to enhance sealing and barrier properties. #ClimateAction Welcome: Jennifer Morgan, State Secretary and Special Envoy for International Climate Action at the Federal Foreign Office, visited us at traceless. Wow! 🇩🇪 When she was appointed to the Federal Foreign Office by #AnnalenaBaerbock in 2022, leaving behind her position as CEO of #Greenpeace, the images of Jennifer Morgan went around the world. Since then, her mission has been to promote climate protection as an important part of foreign policy. This also includes looking around inside the country: What solutions can German companies contribute, that might then have a global impact? ⚓ Last Friday, she was on a tour of #Hamburg to find out. And she also stopped by here, meeting our CEO & Co-Founder Anne Lamp! The mutual enthusiasm was immediately noticeable, and there was so much to talk about! The planned 60 minutes quickly turned into 90 minutes, and we could have gone on talking forever... For example, about this:   🌎 A full 3.4% of global greenhouse gas emissions are caused by the plastic lifecycle (OECD Global Plastics Outlook). That's more than all air traffic. This is not only due to the fossil raw material base, but also to the fact that the manufacturing process for plastics is energy-intensive and cannot be electrified overnight. 🌱 While the chemical industry is exploring ways to overcome these challenges, there's also novel solutions on the horizon: using natural polymers is a way to drastically reduce these emissions while minimizing the risk of pollution at the end of life. The use of biomass residues or non-food biomass ensures that there is no food conflict. 🙌 While there's many companies like ours that are commited to developing such solutions, we also need political framworks as support. The challenge: Innovative, young companies are less well represented politically - especially in traditional sectors such as energy and chemicals. Her message to us: Invest in "Boots on the Ground" so that the voice of the future finally becomes louder - in Berlin, Brussels and globally. We will!
