📈 Inflation and temperatures rise together An Article by Maximilian Kotz, Friderike K., Eliza Lis and Christiane Nickel dives into the correlation between headline inflation and temperature increases. You can read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/dAVEwSAn But, for the sake of simplicity, these are the main results: - Climate change significantly increases inflationary pressures - Heatwaves and droughts will become more frequent with climate change and in turn disrupt agricultural productivity and supply chains. And shorter supplies drive inflation - The continuous increase in the global average temperature and the more frequent occurrence of extreme weather events will likely lead to a persistent upward pressure on food inflation of around 1.5-1.8 percentage points per year. While studied and proven, we have been able to watch this happen in realtime, especially over the last year. Chocolate went from treat to toll and orange juice turned to liquid gold. And this already shows the worst and most significantly of all price surges: With the rise in monthly average temperatures, the food prices are most affected. Time to invest into an agriculture that is climate fit. At The Landbanking Group, we are working hard to enable every farmer to be rewarded for farming regeneratively.

Are you ready for the documentary of the season? Together with ZDF and AMES Foundation, The Landbanking Group is working on a documentary that proves: Conservation is an economics best practice.

We share the realities of managing and protecting nature in our fragmented landscapes where we are faced with threats from poaching, genetic dilution, alien species encroachment amongst many others. These all come with a cost. One that is too high for many to bear alone, particularly in rural communities in Africa. However, this also brings an opportunity. We need more hands on the ground to manage our expanding protected areas and that means more jobs in areas where the alternatives often lead to poaching for survival. Another Year - another Overshoot Day Once again we have managed to exploit nature of its annual maximum of regenerative resources with almost half a year to go. A frustrating piece of news. Frustrating mainly because we have a collection of solutions, we only lack the incentive to apply them. In monetary resource management, in issues of financial dept we have a tendency to be highly sensitive to the issue. If we don’t have money, if we accumulate debt, how can we get by? Countries apply laws like the German balanced budget amendment to reduce the amount of debt passed down for other generations to repay. But now, perhaps without realising, we are compiling an immense amount of generational nature debt. And the only way to dig ourselves out is to amend our lands practices, responsibly use resources and incentivise nature restoration.  https://lnkd.in/eN5VXk3p

Buy 1 - get 13 Payments toward nature and sustainability have often been equated with losses, both monetary and in competitive capabilities. But, besides the visible impacts of climate change on supply chains and the obvious necessity of investments into climate resilience, we now have actual approximate numbers: ”The Preparedness Payoff” by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce shows, every $1 invested in resilience leads to $13 saved in economic impact and cleanup costs. What a bargain! So, just for a short time and while the stocks last, invest 1$ in nature and save 13$!

What’s the best investment you ever made?  We may have a better one: Turning 37k hectares of agriculture and forestry in one county at Lake Constance into a “climate landscape” will create benefits to farmers, foresters, businesses, water works, insurances, banks and consumers. It would cost little. “Liveable Lake Constance” is an ambitious experiment to overcome the hurdles between different beneficiaries to create a climate landscape that is productive, resilient and liveable in the face of climate change and biodiversity loss.  The case: Financing less than 0.2% of the county's GDP (a value of 22 million EUR) would sustain agriculture’s 1% share (114 million €) of the county’s GDP and potentially create even more value.  The leadership: Regenerate Forum, led by Jan-Gisbert Schultze, together with HRH Margrave Bernhard of Baden and Roman Strasser, General Manager Markgräflich Badischer Gutsbetrieb, and Dr. Nicola Gindele, Agricultural Officer.  The transparency: Regionalwert Leistungen GmbH, GREENZERO and The Landbanking Group are complementary tools that allow to track, visualize and economically value the inputs and outcomes of sustainable and regenerative measures implemented on the ground. The concept: New approaches are needed to combine different beneficiaries to bring about the necessary transition to a healthy and resilient landscape and economy by generating an additional income for farmers’ and foresters’ creation of ecosystem services. Liveable Lake Constance is building a refinancing platform that is ready to take action and make the regenerative vision investable.

The essential part of finding solutions, which can be applied fast, well and at large scale, is collaboration. Bundling resources and exchanging knowledge builds the foundation for growth. So, we are excited to introduce a partnership with SONSETC MAKING SENSE OF SOUNDS SL, an innovative biodiversity monitoring technology based on acoustic recordings.
