VIP-Terminals are a promising new market for airports. Currently, “Terminal BTG Pactual“, a new state-of-the-art VIP-Terminal, is being constructed at Sao Paulo’s Guarulhos International Airport (GRU), set to be one of the largest ones in the world upon opening.   Recently, we had the honor of welcoming Fabio Camargo, Gabriel Trovão and Gabriela Goldenstein of Aero Empreendimentos S.A., the concessionaire of the said Terminal, to our beautiful homebase Flughafen München.   As we have been supporting the development of Terminal BTG Pactual since early stages, we took the opportunity to introduce our guests to Munich Airport’s VipWing, which was one of the first of its kind in the world. It was the perfect setting for sharing experiences and discussing international best practices together with Martin Rathgens, Product-, Process- and Marketing Manager of the VipWing.   Afterwards, we had a workshop on concepts of operations and commercial strategies together with our managing director Lorenzo Di Loreto and our experts Carolina Calvo Batalla, MBA, German Gonzalez, Alejandro Viyella and Kevin Bråten.   It was a great pleasure for us to welcome our Brazilian partners to Munich and we enjoyed the opportunity of exchanging ideas and sharing knowledge. We are looking forward to further support Aero Empreendimentos S.A. in the development of GRU’s truly unique new terminal. --------------------------- P.S. If you are interested in the concept of VIP-Terminals, don’t miss tomorrow’s Airports Council International - Latin America and Caribbean - ACI LAC webinar held by our expert German Gonzalez! As part of the #AirMobilityInitiative (AMI), which fosters the development of #AdvancedAirMobility (#AAM) in Bavaria, we were tremendously proud to be hosting last week’s AMI Networking Event at our beautiful homebase Flughafen München. We welcomed many companies, research institutions and municipalities to discuss the latest developments around AAM in the Munich metropolitan area. A tour around Munich Airport, led by our colleague Michael Obermaier, was a perfect start. Afterwards, Dr. Jan-Henrik Andersson, Lorenzo Di Loreto and Juliette Heinzel gave a warm welcome to our guests before handing over to Balkiz Sarihan, Florian Preuss, Jochen A., and Olaf C. Bünck. The renowned experts led the audience through the virtual journey of a passenger who returns from a strenuous business trip from the US to Munich Airport, where he embarks an eVTOL and flies seamlessly to his hometown Ingolstadt. What is still a vision today, may be reality in the near future. To make this dream come true, the members of the Air Mobility Initiative work closely together in several research projects, for instance around vertiport development or airspace integration of eVTOLs. Last weeks’ networking event was a valuable opportunity to share ideas and exchange experiences on this journey. We are looking forward to further collaborating with our partners and shaping the future of air travel together!

+++ New Horizons for #AdvancedAirMobility (AAM): Vertiports on Parking Structures +++ AAM promises a revolution in urban and airport-related transport. A key element of this development are #Vertiports to enable vertical take-off and landings of eVTOLs. However, available land in urban and terminal-proximate areas is scarce and expensive.   An innovative solution lies in integrating Vertiports on parking structures. This concept offers several advantages:   Efficient Use of Infrastructure: Parking structures are already a profitable source of revenue. The land cost for the Vertiport is therefore only a fraction of the total.   Temporal Flexibility: The functionality of the Vertiport can be adjusted flexibly, making the investment less risky.   Reduced Construction Costs and Accelerated Implementation: With GOLDBECK, Europe’s number one in serial construction, we have a partner that enables us to implement construction reliably and cost-effectively.   Sustainability and Efficiency: The use of prefabricated modular components meets modern sustainability standards and ensures fast, safe construction.   Scalability and Risk Management: Vertiports could be realized on any new parking structure and at virtually any location, offering high scalability and manageable financial risks.   Through an intensive 1-yr research and planning approach in the frame of the #AirMobilityInitative lead by Airbusamd.sigma and Munich Airport International have achieved an impressive result within a year. The key outcome is: A hybrid building for Vertiport-parking and office use can indeed be built serially! it even creates a new asset-class of building typology.   This insight opens new doors for urban mobility. Vertiports could soon be available everywhere, from new parking structures at airports to central urban locations. The era of #ElectricAviation is on the horizon! Just ask us... #UrbanAirMobility #SustainableAviation #FutureOfTransport #Airbus #Goldbeck #MunichAirportInternational

Developing key personnel and growing their talent is pivotal to any airport organization. ENJAZ, the national talent development program of Hamad International Airport (DOH), prepares Qatari professionals to become future #aviation leaders. With over a decade of operational excellence, Hamad International Airport continues to expand its facility and through the ENJAZ program, the airport secures its future by investing in its people which is integral to its growth progression.   Gaining experience from other airports and being exposed to best practices, facilitates the professional growth of the candidates enrolled in ENJAZ. In June, we at Munich Airport International and Flughafen München, hosted a 3-week training program for ten members from DOH. The program was tailor-made to match ENJAZ’s objective of upskilling national talents. The training, which was designed in collaboration with Munich Airport’s Airport Academy, consists of a mix of theoretical sessions and practical on-the-job trainings, and was prepared and delivered by a broad group of subject-matter experts, including the management, from Munich Airport and Munich Airport International and the Airport Academy.   Covering three main thematic blocks – aviation business, operations, and infrastructure – the training facilitated a mutual knowledge exchange on a wide range of subjects matters related to these blocks. It comprised, among others, topics such as airport business models, aviation marketing and route development, airline and airport relations, safety and security, duty management, cargo operations, master planning, commercial development, passenger experience and business continuity management. Various learning formats were applied such as immersive, tailored airport visits and inspections, masterclasses, and exchange sessions.   It was our great pleasure to congratulate the participants on successfully completing the 3-week training program at the graduation event.   As a long-standing partner of Hamad International Airport, it was an honor for us to host this training. We are looking forward to hosting future ENJAZ training programs and collaborating with the airport in achieving its learning and development objectives.
