🎉 #TBT to our unforgettable Climate Tech Terrace Party! 🌍✨ This month, we gathered on the Impact Hub Berlin terrace for an inspiring evening with entrepreneurs and changemakers, exploring how to build diverse teams. 🎤 Co-created with Womxn for Climate Tech & Innovation and Carbon13, the event featured insightful talks from Carla Erber (Climate-KIC), Doreen R. (DWR eco), Marina Fontoura Simon Dierks (Carbon13), and Sarah Needham (Sarah Needham: Unique-U Coaching is a B-Corp). ☀️ Our terrace was alive with energy as founders pitched ideas, networked, and connected with accelerators, venture builders, and VCs. We had 180 people registered and another 120 on the waitlist, showing just how important and engaging this topic is! 💡 Our Director of Operations Heloise Le Masne explained why diversity is key to innovation and Alessandra Caggiano moderated a panel that explored essential aspects of finding and founding diverse teams. Marina Fontoura from Carbon13 discussed their venture-building program supporting diverse startups, Jakob Muus🌱 shared lessons from building and selling his startup Tracks, and Karolina Attspodina 🇺🇦 from WeDoSolar highlighted the importance of diversity in their team. ⚡️ The 1-minute pitches from teams looking for cofounders or team members were a highlight, showcasing innovative climate tech solutions. 🥙 Big thanks to Roots Radicals for the delicious food sponsored by Siemens Energy, and to all who joined, especially our FLINTA* founders and allies from the LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, and neurodiverse communities. 💃 The evening wrapped up with networking and cocreation, leaving us with a strong sense of belonging, optimism, and community. Did you know that Repair Circle was born at Impact Hub Berlin? 🌟 1.5 years ago, Nikki A. and Mohan raj Ramadoss felt the urgency to make a difference for our planet. They discovered a Circular Economy hackathon hosted by us and knew they had to join. 🌍🔄 Diving deep into electronic waste—the fastest-growing waste stream worldwide—they crafted a vision for repair, reuse, and recovery in just 48 hours. This marked the birth of RepairCircle! ♻️💡 Since then, they’ve been unstoppable, driven to Make Repair the Norm Again: 🔋 Device Collection: Nearly 100 smartphones and several tablets collected within the Impact Hub community. 🤝 Partnerships: Collaborations with AfB social & green IT and jobs4refugees through our Circular Together Incubator program. 💰 Funding: Secured €26K from #BSS, facilitated by Impact Hub Berlin, and received sponsored memberships and office space at IHB through the nawi.berlin initiative. Did you know Impact Hub is the largest global network of impact innovators? 95(!) Impact Hubs from all over the world got together last month in beautiful Sesimbra, Portugal, for our largest-ever Global Gathering. This year's theme was "Integrate, #Innovate, and Thrive," using the metaphor of trees coming together to form a forest, to symbolise the interconnectedness and mutual support across the Impact Hub Network. It's a special experience to have over 100 impact makers from 5 continents come together to connect, learn from each other, and explore the best paths to a #BetterFuture. ☀️ Lange Tafel means long tables - and in May, long tables were set up at several locations in Neukölln for beautiful encounters between neighbours. Committed humans creating places of connection in times of social separation. 🪑 We co-created one with our neighbours Berlin Global Village, VOLLGUT eG and Vollguter Gemeinschaftsgarten NK and it was lovely! We are proud we got to eat cake and chat with such a colourful crowd. The diversity of our perspectives makes this neighbourhood so interesting.
