We are delighted to announce that Dr Steffen P Walz will be joining us from 1st of February 2024 - formally as Managing Director of the icon group, operationally as Unit Lead of icon impact and as the Group's jack-of-all-trades, ensuring that we continue to live up to our claim of being pioneers of change. Steffen brings 25 years of digital leadership experience to icon, from a wide variety of constellations: Most recently as Principal, Innovation & Cooperation at CARIAD, a Volkswagen Group brand, having focused on the topics of in-car gaming, health and wellbeing together with e.g. Porsche AG, AUDI AG, Volkswagen and Volkswagen Group Innovation; previously as an Explorer at CARIAD's digital commerce subsidiary diconium; as a former professor of design innovation/game design at Australian universities; and as founder, entrepreneur, head of R&D and innovation labs, game designer, curator of the bizplay conference, book author and editor (including The Gameful World, The MIT Press), keynote speaker, impact investor and, get this, one-hit-wonder rock musician. Hello world, hello friends, it is with deep sadness that we must announce that we have lost our beloved friend, companion and colleague Thomas Fellger – CEO and co-founder of icon group. Thomas was also CEO and Chairman of esports business Veritas Entertainment (aka LVL), co-founder of banbutsu and DAITA EXP GmbH, sat on the advisory boards of several other start-ups, and served as an advisor to the United Nations General Assembly. He passed away suddenly and unexpectedly, at just 51 years old. Our thoughts are with his family, especially his two children, whom he loved and adored more than anything in this world. As his partners, it is our duty and obligation to preserve Thomas' legacy by making icon group everything we envisioned it to be and more. In the days and weeks ahead, we will work with the icon group leadership team and WPP to do just that. In the meantime, let's reminisce about the thousands of memories that have been made over the past 30 years. Thomas was a truly extraordinary person: passionate, extremely – sometimes painfully – optimistic and entrepreneurial, with a fiercely independent mind and spirit. Once you met him, he was impossible to forget. Thomas's visionary and fun-loving approach to life is the essence of what has helped icon succeed since our early days at MetaDesign/LostBoys/Iconmedialab, and while he is absolutely irreplaceable, his relentless ambition will remain in our DNA. He had no fear in challenging CEOs and business leaders alike to go further and bolder in adopting new technology. There are many of us across icon and WPP who will have seen him in action, pushing us and clients to do more, faster. Fellger style.  “If everything seems under control, you're just not going fast enough.” This quote by Mario Andretti, used to be on the wall in the entrance of Lostboys HQ in Amsterdam and it turned into his mantra. Today would have been Thomas' 52nd birthday. Rest in peace you crazy ****. We miss you Mike and Adrian on behalf of all iconistas PS: The funeral will take place in the closest family circle. However, we are planning an event that will allow all of us to say goodbye to him – in a setting that he would have enjoyed. We will keep you posted.

We were thrilled to see Christian Eckert, Chief Experience Officer at icon group, live on stage as a speaker at this year’s #IAAMOBILITYDesignConference! It was an honor to see him share the stage with leading OEM designers and inspiring industry experts.
