𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝘃𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 "𝗠𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗛𝗮𝗺𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗴" Hamburg is reinforcing its position as the world's third-largest civil aviation hub and a leading centre for aerospace research and development! The ZAL Center of Applied Aeronautical Research, which opened in Hamburg-Finkenwerder in 2016, holds a special position in the city. It brings together over 30 partners, including Airbus, Lufthansa Technik, Diehl Aviation, various universities and is Hamburg's innovation centre for the future of international aviation. The ZAL has expanded by 30%, adding 8,000 square meters of innovation space. Inaugurated yesterday by Hamburg's First Mayor Dr. Peter Tschentscher, the extension will host two German Aerospace Center (DLR) institutes focusing on climate-compatible aviation and digital processes. With 300 DLR employees joining, the ZAL Center strengthens Hamburg's position as a global aviation hub, emphasizing sustainability and innovation in the aerospace sector. 🌍✈️ This significant expansion supports around 850 researchers working on cutting-edge technologies like robotics, AI, 3D printing, and sustainable aircraft systems. This extension also opens doors for SMEs and technology partners. ZAL offers flexible options for technical equipment, team size, and project period, along with support in prototype construction and agile innovation. 🎉 Congratulations to this important milestone! We are very much looking forward to seeing the groundbreaking innovations that will emerge from the new ZAL Center! #Congratulations #Aerospace #Innovation #Hamburg #ZAL #Aviation photo © ZAL / Daniel Reinhardt

𝗛𝗮𝗺𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗢𝘀𝗮𝗸𝗮'𝘀 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁 Osaka has been a sister city to the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg since 1989. The former Mayor of Hamburg, Henning Voscherau, and Mayor Masaya Nishio of Osaka ceremoniously signed the partnership declaration at that time. For 35 years now, the two cities have been connected by a close bond of friendship and cooperation. Both cities have vast technology and digitization sectors. There are cooperations with Hamburg's universities, DESY, and the Max Planck Institute. This week, Mayor Dr. Peter Tschentscher welcomed Hideyuki Yokoyama, Mayor of Osaka. He was accompanied by the President of the Osaka City Council, Takashi Takeshita, and a delegation of city council members. During the visit to the City Hall, our colleague Stefan Matz, Director of International Investments at Hamburg Invest, presented Hamburg's innovative industries to the Osaka Mayor. The #Expo2025 mascot myaku-myaku (ミャクミャク) also joined! 😉 Another part of a diverse program for the Japanese delegation happened yesterday at the Impact Hub Hamburg. Startups from both cities came together for an international collaboration event organized by Japamburg - ジャパンブルク. Johannes Budkiewitz and André Nobielski kicked off the proceedings. Mayor Hideyuki Yokoyama of Osaka introduced the city's startup ecosystem, while Birte Prinzhorn of the Impact Hub Hamburg shared local innovation insights. Hamburg startups Eternal Power GmbH, Manuka Jun, and X-Spectrum GmbH delivered compelling pitches. Later, Osaka companies Mirakoto, CareFort, Teijin Frontier Europe, and Hovers presented their innovations. It was great having the guests from Japan here in our #StartupCityHamburg #CityPartnership #InternationalCollaboration #InnovationExchange #StartupEcosystem #GlobalConnections
