This year's invitation to the third emsys Direct Marketers’ Day was again well received by the industry. Around 70 experts from the energy industry gathered at the company’s headquarters in Oldenburg on 11 and 12 June 2024 for a packed program of presentations on balancing power, redispatch, reactive power and forecasting. Our colleague Timo Buschmann provided information on the topic of balancing power, focusing on prequalification processes and balancing power from wind and batteries. He also discussed the status quo of hybrid parks, which will play an increasingly important role in the energy landscape in the future. As part of the redispatch session, Managing Director Jan Rosenkranz presented emsys grid services and our grid platform. While Dr. Andreas Cronenberg from Consentec GmbH gave an outlook on the further development of redispatch 2.0, Stefan Börries from EWE NETZ GmbH shed light on the current status of redispatch from the grid operator's perspective. Our guest Stefan Häselbarth spoke about future grid services and the associated optimization and marketing of reactive power. Our forecasting experts Anika Beer and Björn Witha reported on new developments in forecasting, including the importance of situational awareness reports for accurate forecasts. In addition, the guests were given insights into the processes of plant connection and explained the impact of current market requirements on the Virtual Power Plant. Last week our colleague Varun Gaur gave a presentation on the topic of Energy Price Drivers at the ETCSEE - Energy Trading Central & South Eastern Europe in Budapest. 20 years, one goal: 100 % renewable energies! Last Friday, we celebrated our 20th birthday together with our employees, their families and some of our companions at a wonderful music festival in our garden. We started on 1 June 2004 with the aim of supporting the integration of renewable energies and thus enabling a climate-friendly energy supply. In these 20 years, we have developed pioneering solutions together with our customers and set important milestones for a green energy economy. Among the more than 300 guests were many companions who have supported us over the years. For example, Dr. Hans-Peter Igor Waldl, the original doctoral supervisor of Ulrich Focken and Matthias Lange, who brought the two later company founders together in his energy meteorology working group in the first place and focused on the topic of #windpower #forecasting. Bernhard Graeber, then working in electricity trading at EnBW, was also one of the guests of honor. With his serious interest in well-founded wind energy forecasts, he accelerated the pace for a record-breaking company foundation a good 20 years ago: while friends and family set up the new Ikea furniture at night, developed the logo and printed the business cards, the young founders created the first offer just in time for their first customer visit to the freshly furnished office. "Pragmatic, goal-oriented, flexible and fast" is how Martin Friedrich from MVV Energie AG summarized the strengths of the emsys team, which now numbers around 200 people. It is impressive to see the market-defining position emsys has achieved both nationally and internationally as today's global market leader with its power forecasts and the #VirtualPowerPlant. Am gestrigen #zukunftstag haben wir zwölf Schüler:innen im Alter von 10-15 Jahren Einblicke in unser Unternehmen ermöglicht. Unsere Kollegin Anika Beer legte nach der Begrüßung direkt los mit Experimenten zur Photovoltaik. Hierbei erforschten die Schüler:innen beispielsweise, welche Auswirkungen der Neigungswinkel der Solarzellen oder natürliche Einflüsse wie die Abdeckung durch Schnee oder Bewölkung auf die Energieerzeugung von Solaranlagen haben. Nach einer kurzen Rutsch-Pause durften die jungen Entdecker:innen auf einem Firmenrundgang auch hinter die Türen unseres Serverraums schauen. Anschließend wurde in einem von unseren Experten begleiteten Quiz ertüftelt, welche Wetterfaktoren den größten Einfluss auf die Stromproduktion aus erneuerbaren Energien haben. Am Nachmittag erlernten die Schüler:innen selbstständig an Laptops die Grundlagen des Programmierens in Python. Zum Abschluss schlüpften sie in die Rolle von Engpassmanagern und versuchten sich an der herausfordernden Aufgabe, das Stromnetz stabil zu halten, indem sie Kosten und Maßnahmen optimierten. Die Schüler:innen waren mit Begeisterung und viel Interesse dabei und auch unsere Kolleg:innen hatten viel Spaß an den Workshops. Wir freuen uns schon auf den nächsten Zukunftstag, um weitere potentielle Nachwuchs-Expert:innen in die Welt der Erneuerbaren Energien eintauchen zu lassen. #erneuerbareenergien #girlsday #boysday #jobs #education
