#50yearsEAFA 💻 Hands up! Who can still remember our online game from 2009 ‘A day with alufoil’? It was about the player experiencing a ‘normal’ day during which he constantly comes into contact with aluminium foil - knowingly or unknowingly. Even if the game is no longer available, we can take this as an opportunity to briefly remind ourselves of how ever-present aluminium foil really is. Of course, even today, 15 years later: in household products, ready meals, drinks - especially coffee (capsules, vacuum block packs), cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, snacks, pet food... Can you think of any more?

You don't have to be a vegetarian or vegan to love tasty grilled vegetables when barbecuing. The problem: vegetables burn easily and sometimes fall through the grill. The solution: grill trays made of aluminium foil. Thanks to the even heat distribution and protection from direct heat, the vegetables don't burn, the juices don't drip into the grill and there is less smoke. Aluminium foil barbecue trays are therefore a clean solution during the barbecue. And even more so afterwards! Because aluminium foil is almost infinitely recyclable. When the first aluminium foil food packaging came onto the market in 1948, nobody could have guessed what a success story it would become. What began with baked goods is now a matter of course for many foods. This is because aluminium foil packaging combines more advantages than almost any other material. From protection against all harmful influences, to the perfect material properties for production and handling, to one hundred per cent recyclability. There are no limits to creativity when it comes to barbecuing. If you combine the right ingredients, have the right equipment ready and a recipe that brings everything together. Like this one: Wild boar back fillet with halloumi and nut pesto, grilled with aluminium foil. The aluminium foil ensures that the delicious pesto made from wine, basil, tomato puree, garlic, ras el hanout, sugar, olive oil, walnuts and shallots stays where it belongs when grilling – on and in the meat. One giant leap for mankind and an important step towards sustainability: Drinks in aluminium bags have been in use on the ISS space station since 2010. EAFA is pleased to announce that Dr. Goksal Gungor (Assan Alüminyum) was elected as the new Vice Chairman of the EAFA Roller Group at our summer conference in Copenhagen last week. He will work alongside EAFA Roller Group Chairman Carmine Bruno Rea (Laminazione Sottile Group) to ensure that EAFA continues to be the leading voice of the aluminium foil rolling industry. Were you hungry for a sandwich after our last post? Don’t worry, we got you. To satisfy your hunger, why not try our recipe for a rustic tomato and mozzarella sandwich? Toast two slices of white bread or tramezzini bread in the oven or in a toaster until crispy but make sure it doesn’t turn brown. Remove from the oven, drizzle with a few drops of olive oil and sprinkle with a little salt. Slice the beef tomato and mozzarella and spread on a piece of bread. Drizzle over the balsamic cream or balsamic vinegar, season with salt and pepper and then garnish with basil.
 Drizzle the other toasted slice of bread with olive oil and cover the other half with it. Enjoy your meal!
