In a 2019 study, it was found that individuals with cancer face a higher risk of dying from #CardiovascularDisease (CVD) compared with the general population, highlighting the critical need for the international community to investigate how CVD and cancer influence each other, and what links these two relevant conditions. It’s been demonstrated that people living with cancer are ten times more likely to have #AtrialFibrillation (AF) than people without cancer. In fact, the incidence of AF among people with cancer is approximately 30%, compared with roughly 1.5–2% in the general population. Daiichi Sankyo are excited to be involved in Office of Health Economics’ (OHE) 2024 whitepaper, ‘Incorporating the Patient Voice in Health Technology Assessment’. The paper highlights the importance of including the patient perspective when considering the value of new health technologies. Incorporating new technology in healthcare can have a large impact on patients, health systems and wider society, and therefore it is important to consider how these decisions are made. We caught up with Daiichi Sankyo employees Gunnar Schroefel and Paul Genin, who contributed directly to the paper, to find out more about the research.
