We are thrilled to share the success of our recent hackathon, co-organized with Bosch Health Campus (BHC). Over the course of two intense days, our Bosch Research colleagues visited BHC to improve ongoing AI projects, from intensive care to aftercare: 🖥️ Prediction of the 12-hour risk of acute kidney injury (AKI) in postoperative patients in intensive care ❤️ Leveraging measurements of blood flow in the heart from cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) to detect potential disease patterns 🩺 Prediction of the risk of falling in elderly patients during post-treatment care   Our Bosch Research colleagues showcased their innovative power by beating the performance of the existing baselines. This is evidence to our commitment to innovation and our motto, "Invented for life". Using AI for Accurate Object Detection 🚗 Automated driving is revolutionizing road safety and convenience by accurately mapping surroundings using radar, cameras, and LiDAR. Radar technology stands out for being robust, reliable, affordable, and easily integrated into vehicles. 🙌 However, radar data, often displayed as a point cloud, has poor spatial resolution. To tackle this, Bosch Research is leveraging deep learning to enhance radar perception. By training neural networks, the team aims to improve object detection, identifying vehicles and pedestrians along with their size, movement, and speed. The next goal is to develop a foundation model that integrates different sensor data formats, creating a common language for all sensors. LPBF stands for Laser Powder Bed Fusion – an innovative manufacturing process for power electronics. ⚡ It is an enabler for cost reduction and performance improvement. Isabelle Günther, a PhD student at Bosch Research, is working intensively on LPBF as part of her thesis. She is investigating how the process can be improved, focusing in particular on the laser-based processing of copper. I am Wan Ding and I work as a senior manager and head of the engineering software department at Bosch Connected Industry, China. Throughout my career at Bosch, I have focused on the field of Industry 4.0, including robotics, industrial automation systems, and semantic stack.
