Apply for a HOMES Grant

The HOMES Program application period is July 1, 2024, through Nov. 22, 2024. Applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis until funds are exhausted.

The Helping Out Mecklenburg homeowners with Economic Support (HOMES) Program is returning for another season beginning July 1 – Nov. 22, 2024. This year, the County is partnering with the City of Charlotte and Town of Davidson to provide grant funding to qualifying residential homeowners to help address the rising costs of retaining their homes.

Grant funds will be paid to the Mecklenburg County Tax Collector, who will reduce the total amount of taxes due for qualifying recipients' primary residence. The amount granted will be equal to 35% of the Mecklenburg County tax amount on the last available tax bill, rounded to the nearest dollar, not to exceed $648.

If you live within the Charlotte City limits or the Town of Davidson, you may qualify for an additional grant. The amount granted will be equal to 35% of the City of Charlotte tax amount on the last available tax bill, rounded to the nearest dollar, not to exceed $367 for the City of Charlotte or $566 for the Town of Davidson. Funds will be granted in the order in which the applications were received until funds are exhausted.

Please note: This program has no effect on the Tax Collector's responsibility to collect any delinquent taxes.
