DataCite actively participates and leads various initiatives through collaboration with stakeholders in the community to make open science a reality.
The Global Access Program (GAP) is an initiative to improve access and enable communities in lesser-represented regions to further benefit from our open infrastructure services. The program has been made possible in part by grant 2022-316573 from the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative.
The International Generic Sample Number (IGSN ID) is a globally unique and persistent identifier for all material samples originating from any research discipline. As well as individual samples, IGSN IDs can be applied to aggregations of samples, features-of-interest (i.e., collection sites), as well as destroyed, discarded, or otherwise ephemeral samples.
Make Data Count is an initiative focused on open research data assessment metrics. We seek to drive community-led transparent and meaningful open data metrics so that research data are valued research outputs across scholarly activities, evaluation, and communications.
‘RAiD’ is an acronym for ‘Research Activity Identifier’. It is a unique, persistent identifier (PID) for research projects and activities. The RAiD metadata record stores project information for long-term discovery, resolution, access, sharing, reporting, and other uses by the global research community.
re3data is a global registry of research data repositories from various academic disciplines. It provides information on repositories for the permanent storage and access of data sets to researchers, funding bodies, publishers, and scholarly institutions.
The Research Organization Registry (ROR) is a global, community-led registry of open persistent identifiers for research organizations. ROR makes it easy for anyone or any system to disambiguate institution names and connect research organizations to researchers and research outputs.
