The DataCite Ambassador Program raises awareness, increases adoption, fosters collaboration, and promotes best practices among regional communities. DataCite Ambassadors engage with our diverse community of librarians, repository managers, information specialists, data stewards, researchers, research organizations, learned societies, think tanks, and policymakers.

Ambassadors are passionate about raising awareness of DataCite infrastructure to build a more open and robust research ecosystem and to promote open research practices. Utilizing their regional insights, knowledge, and translation skills, our ambassadors support the growing DataCite community across various regions, languages, and time zones. Cécile Coulibaly (Cote d’Ivoire) coordinates the activities of the national repository of Côte d’Ivoire. Cecile is in charge of scientific commissions at the Virtual University of Côte d’Ivoire. As LIBSENSEnational focal point, she’s been involved in the implementation of open science projects since 2018. Cecile is also a member of the OER francophone working group, the national open science policy establishment working group, and the African Open Science Platform Governing Council.

Coordinatrice des activités du référentiel national, Cécile est responsable des commissions scientifiques à l’Université Virtuelle de Côte d’Ivoire. En tant que point focal national LIBSENSE, elle est impliquée dans la mise en œuvre de projets de science ouverte depuis 2018 : Open Access Week, Symposium National, Consortium national ORCID, science ouverte en énergies renouvelables et changement climatique. Elle est également membre du groupe de travail francophone sur les REL, du groupe de travail pour l’élaboration de la politique nationale de la science ouverte, du Conseil d’Administration de l’African Open Science Platform (AOSP). Ainsi, le Ambassador Program de DataCite est bienvenu pour vulgariser l’attribution des DOI en Afrique.

Chokri Ben Romdhane (Tunisia) is an IT Senior Analyst and Head of the Tunisian Database department at CNUDST. Chokri implemented, with the CNUDST team, PIST, the first Tunisian open repository in collaboration with CERN, Tunisian Universities, and other Maghreb Universities. In 2011, Chokri started with a team of researchers the which advocates for Tunisian Open Access group Open Access principles and promotes the adoption of these concepts by the community of Tunisian researchers. The group is organizing several events such as Open Access Study days, Open Access Week, and ICOA. Chokri is also a Board member of the Arab Community Open Access (ACOA) Arab Community Open Access (ACOA), active in the Arab region and organizing several Open Access events like The Arab Open Access Week.

شكري ابن رمضان هو محلل رئيس بالمركز الوطني الجامعي للتوثيق العلمي و التقني بتونس انجز مع فريق العمل بالمركز البوابة التونسية للإعلام العلمي و التقني وهي اول بوابة تونسية للأرشفة و الو صول الحر و ذلك بالتعاون مع المنظمة الأوروبية للأبحاث النووية و جملة من الجامعات التونسية و المغاربية. خلال سنة 2011 أنشا شكري بالتعاون مع مجموعة من الباحثين التونسيين المجموعة التونسية للوصول الحر وتتبنى هذه المجموعة مبادئ الوصول الحر و تدعوا لتبني هذه المبادئ من قبل الباحثين التونسيين, و تسهر على تنظيم عدة تظاهرات في هذا الاطار: الأيام الدراسية للوصول الحر، أسبوع الوصول الحر، الندوة الدولية حول النفاذ الحر. كما ينتمي شكري لمجلس إدارة المجموعة العربية للوصول الحر الناشطة في المنطقة العربية والتي تسهر على تنظيم عدة تظاهرات في علاقة بالوصول الحر مثل الأسبوع العربي للوصول الحر.

Francis Jayakanth (India) is a Senior Scientific Officer at the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, India. Presently, he is working in the institute’s library. His job profile includes handling subscriptions and maintaining and administering institutional repository services for research publications, theses, and dissertations. He has a rich experience in managing institutional repositories of his institute. He wants to expand his knowledge by setting up a data repository. He is passionate about promoting open data and data literacy in India, and has conducted several workshops, webinars, and outreach events on these topics.

Francisco Silva-Garcés (Ecuador) has been studying open access and open science since 2018, and is contributing to national public policy. Currently, through the Openlab Ecuador Foundation, he promotes open science. Since 2020, he has been organizing a dissemination event called “Discovering Open Science” on the principles and values of open science. He is a member of the Global Steering Committee of UNESCO on Open Science. In 2022, along with members of the Ibero-American Open Science Community, they organized the 1st Ibero-American Congress on Open Science. He coordinates the commitment “co-creation of the national open science policy” (2nd Open Government Action Plan EC 2022-2024).

Desde el 2018 estudio sobre el acceso abierto y la ciencia abierta contribuyendo a la política pública nacional. Actualmente, desde la Fundación Openlab Ecuador, promuevo la ciencia abierta en la región. Organizo desde 2020 un evento de divulgación de la ciencia abierta denominado “Descubriendo la ciencia abierta”. Soy parte del Comité Directivo Global de UNESCO sobre Ciencia Abierta. En 2022 organizamos juntos con miembros de la comunidad iberoamericana el 1er Congreso Iberoamericano de Ciencia Abierta. Coordino el compromiso “co-creación de la política nacional de ciencia abierta” 2do Plan de Acción (Gobierno Abierto EC 2022-2024)

Josiline Chigwada (Zimbabwe) is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of South Africa in the School of Interdisciplinary Research and Graduate Studies. She is a librarian with 17 years of experience in academic librarianship. She holds an Information Science doctorate, MSc and BSC (Hons) in Library and Information Science, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Tertiary Education. She is an Open Science advocate in Zimbabwe and has authored on open science, research data management, information and digital literacy, indigenous knowledge, and contemporary library and information science issues. She is an editorial board member of the IFLA Journal.

Madiareni “Reni” Sulaiman (Indonesia) is a Research Data Librarian at BRIN Indonesia. She is interested in how RDM can support Open Science. She manages the National Scientific Repository in Indonesia and has extensive experience providing research support for various research projects. As part of Emerging International Voices, she has received research grants from the National Library of Indonesia and taken courses regarding data management from Australia and the EU. She is also one of Indonesia’s member representatives on the UNESCO Recommendation on Open Science. She is currently a PhD student at University College London (UK), with a focus on RDM collaborations. She speaks Bahasa Indonesia and Melayu.

Madiareni “Reni” Sulaiman bekerja sebagai Pustakawan Data Riset di BRIN Indonesia. Minat risetnya terkait bagaimana RDM dapat mendukung sains terbuka. Reni bertugas mengelola Repositori Ilmiah Nasional di Indonesia dan berpengalaman dalam menyediakan fasilitas untuk berbagai proyek penelitian. Sebagai bagian dari Emerging International Voices, ia pernah menerima dana hibah penelitian dari Perpustakaan Nasional Indonesia dan mengikuti kursus manajemen data dari Australia dan Eropa. Ia juga merupakan salah satu perwakilan Indonesia pada program UNESCO Recommendation on Open Science. Saat ini, Reni merupakan mahasiswa doktoral aktif di UCL UK, dengan fokus riset terkait kolaborasi RDM.

Laura Vilela Rodrigues (Brazil) is an Associate Professor at the Federal University of Goiás (UFG) in the Faculty of Information and Communication. From 2020-2021, she was a Visiting Scholar at Harvard University with the Digital Curation team of Dataverse Project at the Institute for Quantitative Social Science (IQSS). In 2019, she completed a Postdoctoral Internship at the University of Barcelona in research projects on Open Science and Digital Preservation in the European and Brazilian context; She obtained her PhD in 2009 and master’s in 2003 in Information Science. Laura has experience in various research and work areas, including Research Data Management, Open Science, Digital Preservation, Digital Curation, Biodiversity Data Management, Traditional Knowledge Management, Digital Social Media, Digital Cultural Collections, Social and digital inclusion. Additionally, she serves as an Invited Researcher in projects led by IBICT and RNP.

Professora vinculada ao mestrado e doutorado em Comunicação. Tekleweyni Geday (Ethiopia) earned his Bachelor’s degree in Information Science from Jimma University and a Master’s degree in Information Technology from the University of Gondar. Since November 2013, he has been serving as a lecturer in the Department of Information Science at Mekelle University, Ethiopia. He is passionate about Open Science and promoting the importance of Open Research Infrastructure.
