Meet Daniel

For more than 20 years, Daniel Eisinger has committed himself to leveling the playing field of America’s criminal justice system by serving as a lawyer for clients unable to afford private attorneys. His work at the Palm Beach County Public Defender’s Office has resulted in the exoneration of dozens of men, women and children accused of crimes which juries ultimately determined they did not commit. Now, Daniel is ready to continue his lifelong fight for justice and fairness as our next elected Public Defender.

Public Defenders Matter

Public Defenders are the elected officials tasked with representing the interests of people unable to afford private attorneys when accused of crimes by the government. They are our state’s greatest guarantee of equal justice for all, regardless of economic status.

In some instances, the stakes of cases handled by the Public Defender are literally life or death, which is why we must not settle for less than the best – and why experience matters.

Experience & Qualifications

Over the course of a career spanning more than two decades, Daniel has:

• Risen to serve as Chief Assistant to the Public Defender, the office’s seniormost staff-level position.
• Helped manage a budget of $18.3 million and oversee 200 staff, including lawyers and investigators.
• Led the Public Defender’s Office Misdemeanor Division as well as its Felony Division.
• Tried hundreds of cases and trained young lawyers starting careers as Assistant Public Defenders.
• Initiated a Misdemeanor Mental Health Court to connect low-level offenders suffering from mental illness with mental health professionals.
• Advanced re-entry services for those leaving prison, cutting their odds of re-offending by 50%.

Priorities

As our next Public Defender, Daniel will:

• Seek justice for all by providing unparalleled legal representation to indigent clients accused of crimes.
• Attract and retain the most qualified attorneys to serve the most disadvantaged residents of our county.
• Provide low-level offenders suffering from mental health issues with treatment, not jailtime.
• Expand re-entry programs proven to prevent those leaving prison from ending up back behind bars.
• Continue building the Palm Beach County Public Defender’s Office into a model for the nation.

More About Daniel

Daniel Eisinger was raised in Palm Beach County, where he continues to live with his wife Amy and their three sons. He attended Suncoast High School before earning an undergraduate degree and then a law degree from the University of Florida. Daniel is a member of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the MacArthur Safety and Justice Challenge Core Team. He is Co-Chair of the West Palm Beach Task Force for Racial and Ethnic Equality’s Criminal Justice Subcommittee and a graduate of Leadership Palm Beach County.
