Dallas left the James Beard Awards in 2024 with no winners.

The city had a trio of finalists this year, with the biggest honor going to David Uygur of Lucia in the Outstanding Chef category. Gemma landed a spot on the Outstanding Hospitality list and chef Misti Norris of Petra and the Beast was shortlisted for Best Chef: Texas. Sadly, none of them left with the big win.

The Metroplex had several semifinalists this year as well. La Casita Bakeshop was recognized in the Outstanding Bakery category, while Regino Rojas of Purépecha, Anastacia Quiñones-Pittman of José, Arnulfo Sánchez III of Vaqueros Texas Bar-B-Q, and Rich Vana of the Heritage Table were all in the early list of the Best Chef: Texas category.

And they’re all damn fine places to eat, so go make a reservation and support them all.
