The blaze happened on Monday, July 8 just before 9 p.m. at a residence in Somers on Weeks Court, the Somers Volunteer Fire Department announced on Thursday, July 11.  According to the fire department, arriving crews found a scooter on fire in the home's garage and took it outside. 3-Year-Old From New Rochelle Killed After Being Struck By SUV A 3-year-old girl from Westchester was killed after being struck by an SUV while crossing the street in New York City. The incident happened just after 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 11 in Manhattan at West 135th Street and Lenox Avenue, outside of Harlem Hospital. According to ABC 7, The driver of the Nissan SUV attempted to take the toddler by foot to the hospital, but she was pronounced dead. She has been identified as Jaynelyse Valdez of New Rochelle. Deer Pulled From Mud In Dramatic New Rochelle Rescue Despite being faced with an unusual situation, firefighters pulled off the successful rescue of a young deer that became stuck in mud in a Westchester pond.  The rescue happened in New Rochelle on Thursday, July 11, when firefighters responded to reports of a stuck deer near Pryer Manor Road.  After around an hour, firefighters were able to remove the deer from the mud in Mill Pond and reunite it with a deer believed to be its mother who had been watching from a distance.  New Rochelle Firefighters
