Are you a self-motivated, organized individual with a passion for regenerative farming and sustainable tourism? One of CEF’s areas of interest is Regenerative Land Use. To promote regenerative agriculture on the island, CEF is partnering up with KES COLLEGE and the Christos Stelios Ioannou Foundation during the project ‘Field to Fork: Restore our Foods and Soils through Farming,’ a project supported by the TUI Care Foundation. We are now recruiting for the role of Project Manager. The person needs to be able to work well in a small team, primarily remotely, as well as conduct on site-visits and participate in physical meetings and project events. There is the potential for the role to extend beyond the 2-year duration of the project. The School of Environmental Studies of KES COLLEGE offers 18 annual scholarships of 4 thousand euros each, for the programme of studies "Organic Production Technician" (2 years/120 ECTS, Diploma) offered in Greek, and for further specialization in Regenerative Agriculture for the Academic Years 2024-2025 and 2025-2026. The scholarships are offered by the TUI Care Foundation through the initiative developed with the Cyprus Environment Foundation, the Christou Steliou Ioannou Foundation and KES COLLEGE within the framework of the TUI FIELD TO FORK - CYPRUS programme. How can Environmental Social Governance (ESG) connect to nature conservation in Cyprus? The Cyprus Environment Foundation (CEF) attended the 2nd Cyprus ESG Forum on December 5th 2023, and spoke about the significance of ‘Investing in sustainable development in Cyprus through environmental conservation’. CEF’s executive director, Sofia Matsi talked about the non-for-profit foundation’s impact during its first 1.5 years of operation when more than €150,000 were invested in local conservation work, supporting 20 different projects and partnering with 14 expert organizations across the island. Sofia went on to present how the organization has been tackling some of the most challenging Environmental Sustainable Development Goals through its diverse range of projects. Sofia emphasized the important role corporates play in the protection and restoration of our country’s natural assets while fulfilling their ESG environmental criteria, through investing in high quality and impact conservation projects. CEF’s executive director summarized her speech by referring to CEF’s co-founder Ben Goldsmith’s words that: ‘Everywhere you look there are brilliant, passionate people working to create positive environmental change. Η εκτελεστική μας διευθύντρια, Σοφία Μάτση, μίλησε για τον αντίκτυπο του CEF κατά τον πρώτο 1,5 χρόνο λειτουργίας του, όταν επενδύθηκαν περισσότερα από 150.000 ευρώ σε τοπικές εργασίες συντήρησης, υποστηρίζοντας 20 διαφορετικά έργα και συνεργαζόμενοι με 14 ειδικούς οργανισμούς σε όλο το νησί. Η Σοφία συνέχισε παρουσιάζοντας πώς ο οργανισμός αντιμετωπίζει μερικούς από τους πιο απαιτητικούς Στόχους Περιβαλλοντικής Βιώσιμης Ανάπτυξης μέσω της ποικίλης σειράς έργων του. Η Σόφια τόνισε τον σημαντικό ρόλο που διαδραματίζουν οι εταιρείες στην προστασία και την αποκατάσταση των φυσικών πόρων της χώρας μας, ενώ πληρούν τα περιβαλλοντικά τους κριτήρια ESG, μέσω της επένδυσης σε έργα υψηλής ποιότητας και διατήρησης των επιπτώσεων. Συνόψισε την ομιλία της αναφέροντας τα λόγια του συνιδρυτή του CEF, Ben Goldsmith: «Όπου κι αν κοιτάξεις, υπάρχουν λαμπροί, αγωνιστικοί άνθρωποι που εργάζονται για να δημιουργήσουν θετικές περιβαλλοντικές αλλαγές. On September 21, 2023 we celebrated CEF's launch with an event under the auspices of the President of the Republic Mr. Nikos Christodoulidis, with honored guests the Minister of Energy, Trade and of Industry Mr. Giorgos Papanastasiou and the Environment Commissioner Dr. Maria Panagiotou. During the event, attendees had the opportunity to learn about our work, which aims to protect and enhance the natural beauty, biodiversity and ecosystems of Cyprus. In particular, we would like to thank three of our grantees who presented their projects and raised awareness of their incredible work during the event: 1.The education of children through interactive and creative workshops in collaboration with Enalia Physis Environmental Research Centre 2.The protection of the endangered guitarfish species, in collaboration with Marine and Environmental Research (MER) Lab 3.The empowering of the “Plastic Free Beach” Initiative, in collaboration with the Cyprus Sustainable Tourism Initiative From March 2022 until today, we supported a total of 19 projects in collaboration with 14 environmental champions of Cyprus, channeling around €150,000 for the preservation and restoration of the island’s natural environment. As our co-founder and Steering Committee member, Ben Goldsmith, pointed out, even small amounts, in the hands of capable people, can move mountains. Νίκου Χριστοδουλίδης, με επίτιμους προσκεκλημένους τον Υπουργό Ενέργειας, Εμπορίου και Βιομηχανίας κ. Γιώργο Παπαναστασίου και την Επίτροπο Περιβάλλοντος κ. Μαρία Παναγιώτου. Από τον Μάρτιο του 2022 μέχρι σήμερα, υποστηρίξαμε συνολικά 19 έργα σε συνεργασία με 14 περιβαλλοντικούς πρωταθλητές της Κύπρου, διοχετεύοντας περίπου 150.000 € για τη διατήρηση και αποκατάσταση του φυσικού περιβάλλοντος του νησιού.
