Patches were introduced in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive with the February 24, 2020 update and are purely cosmetic addition to customize a player's agent.

Overview[]

Agent patch mechanics are very similar to weapon stickers as they can only be used once. Once a patch is applied, it cannot be scraped like a sticker. Instead, it must be destroyed and the patch will be deleted. Stickers cannot be applied to "Local T/CT" agents, but instead can be applied to agents from the Shattered Web Agent Collection, Broken Fang Agent Collection and the Riptide Agent Collection. Agents typically have 3 positions where the patches can be placed, and these vary from agent to agent. However, these range from the arms, chest, back, stomach and bags and pouches on the body.

Patches can be obtained by:

  1. Opening a Patch Pack,
  2. A limited time Operation Shop (Operation Broken Fang and Operation Riptide),
  3. Trading with other players,
  4. Purchasing from the Steam Market.
  5. Finding them pre-applied on agent skins on the Steam Market using a tool such as CSProfile Patch Search.

Rarity[]

Patches are available in the following rarities:

  • Blue - High Grade
  • Purple - Remarkable
  • Purple - Gold
  • Pink - Exotic

Unlike stickers, there are no distinct visual differences between patch rarities. These rarities exist simply to create rarer patches than others.

Unreleased Content[]

  • On the February 24, 2020 update, strings were added to csgo_english.txt[1] which referred to Patch categories of team logos and player autographs, similar to team and player autograph stickers. Though team patches were later introduced in PGL Stockholm 2021 Patches.
  • Also on the February 24, 2020 update, two '.vtf' files named "patch_teamstitch_t.vtf" and "patch_teamstitch_ct.vtf" were added which are patches of the T and CT logos. They are located under "case01" which means these patches were either tests or cut from the patch pack.
