Nilüfer Yanya has announced her new album, My Method Actor, out September 13th via Ninja Tune. As the latest preview, she’s shared the new single “Method Actor.”

My Method Actor is based around the theme of entering a transition between one part of life into another and was made during intimate sessions with Yanya’s creative partner Wilma Archer. “This is the most intense album, in that respect,” the artist revealed in a statement. “Because it’s only been us two. We didn’t let anyone else into the bubble.”

Smoothly building from laidback guitar to crunchy chords, “Method Actor” was inspired by the similarities between acting and performing as a musician. Stream the new single through the visualizer below.

“I was researching method acting — and from what I read, it’s based on finding this one memory in your life, a life-altering, life-changing memory,”  Yanya explained. “The reason why some people find method acting traumatic and maybe not safe mentally, is because you’re always going back to that moment… It’s a bit like being a musician. When you’re performing, you’re still trying to invoke the energy and emotion of when you first wrote it, in that moment.”
