John Early is back with news of a 2024 North American tour and the album release of his 2023 comedy special, Now More Than Ever.
Kicking off on September 9th in San Diego, Early’s tour will take him to cities like Seattle, Los Angeles, Austin, Chicago, New York, and more before wrapping in Durham, North Carolina on October 21st. Check out the full list of the upcoming dates below.
Tickets are first available via an artist pre-sale opening via Early’s website, before going on sale to the general public beginning on Friday, June 14th, at 10:00 a.m. local time.
As for the release of Now More Than Ever, it will arrive on September 13th via Lookin’ For My Denim Records/Thirty Tigers. Spanning 21 tracks, it will feature comedic and musical performances by Early and his band The Lemon Squares, including previously-unreleased material. New highlights include a set from Early’s alter-ego, Vicky with a “V,” and covers, like Madonna’s “American Life,” Aaliyah’s “Rock the Boat,” and more.
Speaking about the album in a statement, Early said, “I’ve been performing comedy and music with my long suffering band The Lemon Squares for over 10 years now, and I always assumed that there was no way to capture the magic of our live shows. But listening to this album takes me right back to that sweaty night in downtown Brooklyn, which felt something like being a crazed preacher at a tent revival.”
Continuing, Early concluded, “I’m so excited for people to hear the Vicky with a ‘V’ set that we had to cut from the HBO special for time. And I am so, so pumped about our new cover songs which I think are genuinely good and stanky. I would also like to put it on permanent record that I did the Madonna rap in one take.” Check out the album artwork and tracklist below.
