David Lynch and Chrystabell are teaming up yet again, as they’ve announced a new collaborative album: Cellophane Memories, due on August 2nd via Sacred Bones Records. Along with the announcement, the two have shared the lead single “Sublime Eternal Love” and its Lynch-directed music video.

Cellophane Memories, like all things Lynch, will capture a dreamy sense of “loneliness and romance,” according to its press release. Featuring contributions from Chrystabell, Lynch, and the late composer Angelo Badalamenti, the project as a whole was inspired by a vision Lynch experienced when he saw a bright light shining over a line of trees on an autumn night. “As he recalls it, the light became the lilt of Chrystabell’s voice and revealed a secret to him,” the album announcement release reads.

In Chrystabell’s own words, the album contains “many doors that are left open to wonder, wander, and get turned around in. It’s like mood music — not that it creates a mood, but more that it reflects your own.” Pre-orders for the album are ongoing. Check out the artwork and tracklist below.

The new album will span 10 songs, closing with the track “Sublime Eternal Love,” which arrives today as the lead single, along with a video directed by Lynch. Over three-and-a-half minutes, the song’s bed of synth padding becomes soil from which layers of Chrystabell’s voice grow and blossom, at times rubbing together in dissonance but ultimately resolving in harmony.

For the video, Chrystabell’s face is framed in three places, coming in and out of view with flickering light, echoing the meditative trance of the song itself. Watch the video below.

Previously, Lynch and Chrystabell collaborated on her 2011 debut album This Train and the 2017 EP Somewhere in the Nowhere. Also in 2017, she appeared in the third season of Lynch’s show, Twin Peaks, portraying Agent Tammy Preston.
