High school baseball state playoffs are in full swing. One Section-III team is looking to get back to the state championship for the first time in 20 years.

Pulaski won the Class C sectional and regional titles this year under the guidance of longtime head coach Butch Taplin.

Last week, they topped Mount Markham for the Section-III title and bested Section IV's Unatego for the regional win. This weekend, Pulaski is headed to the state semifinals, bringing pride to a small school that averages just 78 kids per grade level.

"It's fun, you know, you go in the stores and there's people you don't even know telling you 'congrats, I heard about your season," said senior Cameron Payne. "It's fun to see people come together like this."

"The kids have worked their tails off to get here," said Taplin. "So, it's the reward aspect of it. You work hard and good things will happen."

The Blue Devils have a date in the state semifinals with Section II's Chatham on Friday, June 7th at 10:00 a.m. The showdown will take place at Binghamton University.

"I know that they're a good team, but we're a good team too, and we're looking for a win," said Payne.

The Blue Devils have not appeared in the state championship game since 2004.
