Le Moyne women's basketball is in search of a new head coach.

On Wednesday, Binghamton University Athletics announced the hire of Mary Grimes to lead the Bearcats' women's program.

Le Moyne's director of athletics Bob Beretta now has big shoes to fill replacing Grimes. The Dolphins far exceeded expectations in their first year in Division-I going 18-15 overall and 14-2 in the Northeast Conference falling in the NEC championship to Sacred Heart. Le Moyne fell in the first round of the WNIT to Niagara 91-86. Grimes was named the NEC Coach of the Year.

As a part of a controversial NCAA rule, Le Moyne sports teams are banned from competing in the NCAA tournament in their first four years at the D-I level.

Grimes took over the Dolphins program in 2021.

Last month, Binghamton and women's basketball head coach Bethann Shapiro Ord agreed to part ways after six seasons. The Bearcats finished 14-17 in 2023-24.
