A motorcycle driver who allegedly failed to come to a complete stop before a right turn got more than a traffic ticket. He was eventually arrested for DUI.

A patrolman in Florida said he checked the license plate on April 9 and wrote, “The registered owner did not possess a motorcycle endorsement.

“I activated my overhead emergency lights and conducted traffic stop.
“The vehicle continued to travel for a distance before responding to my emergency lights.”

Then, it was time to hand over his license and registration.

The arrest report continued, “The defendant attempted to apply the kickstand and missed it several times.

“During this time, the defendant obtained his license and dropped his glove, leaned over to get glove, almost dropping the motorcycle.

“While speaking with the defendant, he stated on his own free will, ‘I knew I shouldn't have drove... I've been drinking.’

“While speaking with the defendant, I detected an odor of the impurities of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath.

“I asked the defendant to step off the motorcycle and he replied, ‘You don't want me to step out I've been drinking.’

“I asked how much the defendant had to drink and he replied a few beers.

“During this interaction, the motorcycle kept rolling back towards my patrol unit and the defendant was unsteady while sitting on it.”

Finally, after finishing “a battery of field sobriety exercises it was determined the defendant was under the influence.”

Steven David Stanhope was arrested, and the results of his breath tests were reportedly 0.156 and 0.143.

He was charged with DUI and with not having a proper license to operate a motorcycle.

Stanhope, 62, spent three days in jail.
