The department sent multiple videos from different angles that showed the moment officers confronted Nyah and another juvenile on the 900 block of Shaw Street to when he fled from the officers which led to an officer firing one round that resulted in the death of the 13-year-old.

In a fiery vigil neighbors expressed a range of emotions following the shooting of a 13-year-old boy and were screaming the words "No Justice, No Peace."

“It's all over the place right now emotions are high not just for me but for the entire community that is suffering right now. Like I said earlier, the family wants justice they want the truth,” said Malyk Gonzales.

Matthew Cavalieri used to be a teacher in Detroit where he says these tragic deaths happened often. Now, living in Utica, shootings like this bring up sad memories.

I wish I could say I was surprised but I am not. I have gone through several of these over the years and it just seems to keep repeating.

The New York Attorney General's Office of Special Investigation has opened an investigation into the death of Nyah.
