Two individuals are in critical condition following a vehicle/Amish buggy crash in Mexico, New York.

On Sunday at about 10:15 a.m., State Police responded to an accident on State Route 3 in the Town of Mexico involving an Amish buggy and a Kia Sedona.

The preliminary investigation revealed the driver of the Kia was traveling north on State Route 3 and attempted to pass the Amish buggy traveling on the east shoulder. The driver attempted to merge back into the driving lane after sighting oncoming traffic and struck the rear portion of the buggy.

The occupants of the buggy, a 17-year-old and a 21-year-old, were both transported to Upstate University Hospital in critical condition.
