It's there that investigators say they found Faltisco’s body — hours after 23-year-old Joshua Schiano hit her with a blue Hyundai Elantra Thursday night. The Onondaga County Sheriff's Office confirms the two were at The Gathering Lounge prior to the crash.
The Onondaga Country District Attorney's Office confirmed that Faltisco didn't want to get in the car with Schiano because he was drinking Thursday night.
Onondaga County's First Chief Assistant District Attorney said Schiano's case has been waived to a grand jury.
Court paperwork obtained by CNY Central shows the 23-year-old is charged with vehicular manslaughter, second-degree vehicular manslaughter and leaving the scene of a fatal vehicle accident. Investigators believe he hit and killed 22-year-old Faltisco with his car along Route 57 in Clay Thursday night. Family members say they knew each other, and the Onondaga County Sheriff's Office confirms they were coworkers at Smokey Bones in Clay. The managers of the restaurant had no comment Monday.
Court documents say Schiano "recklessly caused the death of such other person when he struck that person with the vehicle he was operating while the victim was walking southbound on the southbound shoulder" in the Town of Clay. The felony complaint goes on to say he had "cause to know that personal injury had been caused to the other person," but that he kept driving, "and within two minutes of striking the victim was involved in another accident where the motor vehicle struck a sign and other items in front of the Salvation Army."
The second crash at the Salvation Army happened around 10:40 p.m. Thursday night, but investigators didn't find Faltisco's body until just after 5 a.m. Friday morning after a man called 911 upon seeing her on the side of the road.
Faltisco was a graduate of the Institute of Technology at Syracuse Central, which is part of the Syracuse City School District.
One of her friends told CNY Central "she'd do anything for anyone" and that she had the "biggest heart."
Schiano is being represented by attorney William Sullivan, according to the Onondaga County District Attorney's Office. CNY Central has reached out to his office for comment.
