    I actually spent an hour or so researching oven thermometers. I ended up with this Rubbermaid thermometer. I didn't need any of the extra fancy, expensive ones. I just wanted to see why my toaster oven was leaving my Trader Joe's quesadillas, raw. A simple tool for a simple task. I was making it hard on myself. Just needed one that is accurate and easy to read. And this is it. My toaster oven is not. It's all over the map with temperature but I'll save that research for another time.

    Ordered to test the oven temps on our GE Profile double oven range. Confirmed that the top oven was running about 13 degrees too hot and the bottom 6 degrees too cold (at 400). They have been this way since new but i just recently noticed in the GE app that you can adjust the temps for calibration so I figured I would give it a go. The thermometer works well, though it does take a while to get to temp. The first one I ordered was defective. The background behind the needle seemed warped towards to the top and the needle would actually hit it and get stuck at around 300 degrees. The replacement does not have that issue.

    The Rubbermaid Commercial Thermometer for Oven/Grill is the most reliable and sturdy oven thermometer I've used. I replaced a store bought unbranded that seemed to get increasingly off temp and ended up using this for 5 years without issue.

    During that time it was abused by me and my roommate, because although it's the best, it could still be knocked off the rack it hung from. (This is a moot point to me because my unbranded was waaaay worse). It fell both at room and fully heated multiple times, and it never degraded.

    I bought another when I moved because it got lost or was thrown out, but it was still working before then! Definitely worth it, especially for gas ovens!

    I ordered this 2 June and received it 4 June and it went straight into the freezer.

    14 July 2022, I had to defrost the freezer and took everything out including the Rubbermaid and Copper thermometers. The Cooper is fine. The Rubbermaid has 3 water bubbles inside it and it has condensation inside which fogs up the ability to read it. I looked it over and it looks sealed all the way around but obviously it is not. You can still read the Rubbermaid thermometer but it should not be allowing water/condensation inside of it. It still works well because it records the same temp as the Cooper. In the morning, I will take my Rubbermaid thermometer out to the deck and let the sun hopefully dry the inside of this Rubbermaid thermometer out if by morning there is still 3 water bubbles in it and condensation. It is too late to send this back or I would. I hope the water inside issue does not warp the numbers or anything else inside the thermometer over time. BUY THE COOPER thermometer.

    I purchased a new small manual frost freezer "Danby" because frost free freezers don't last as long today. Wanting to keep it simple with less things to break - manual the way to go. However, most appliances (refrigerators, dishwashers, ovens, etc) last only 7 years on average now because all owned by China, built in China or use Chinese parts and smaller appliances like microwaves and little things like thermometers last even less long. I read hundreds of reviews by people who lost thousands of dollars in frozen meat/food when their "new" freezer died or did not freeze food properly. I wanted a thermometer that worked but I didn't want to mess around buying batteries for it every few months. I looked for a restaurant thermometer and these had to be NSF certified which eliminated most of the Amazon thermometers except the 2 below. I purchased both of them. They arrived at same time and they went into the freezer at same time. They both registered the same reading and have been working for well over 2 months now. I have much older manual frost free freezer I am going to buy 2 more and put in there. Fingers crossed, the freezers will continue working properly for years to come but knowing a proper thermometer reading is just as important to give me heads up.
