The Carlisle 4037200 Sparta Pastry Basting Brush is the perfect choice for high fluid retention and fine pastry washes. The brush is durable and waterproof for basting meats and poultry. Its 1" wide x 2" trim premium boar bristles are double-boiled and treated to withstand temperatures up to 500°F. The epoxy-set in ferrules to provide superior liquid retention and are easy to keep clean.

Time will tell how durable it is. I would not recommend this brush for bbq grill use with high temp or flames. This is a true pastry brush vs grill brush.

This was more than I wanted to spend. But after reading reviews of several brushes, this seemed to be the best. Many other brushes were said to loose bristles, who wants that in their baking? I haven't had a brush in years, but my old one for rusty on the band by the bristles and it was loosing bristles. And it was very old. I only used this once, but I really like it. There is no metal to rust. The bristles are soft and didn't shed. I washed it before and after with good results both times. The handle is wood and nicely varnished. The size of the brush is perfect for scones, buns, breads, etc. The bristles are firmly seated in a plastic or rubber base. I love it. I will report if there are any changes with repeated use.

Just purchased this brush to use on vegetables. I understand it's difficult to get all the oil out so if anyone has the trick to that let me know. I will use soon on roasted vegetables and I expect it will be great. It's the perfect size to dip into olive oil and brush on a thin layer, I think easier to control than a spray which is why I'm trying the brush.
