IACP AWARD FINALIST FOR BEST WINE, BEER, OR SPIRITS COOKBOOK

From the wildly creative team behind Philadelphia's Art in the Age comes
The Cocktail Workshop, a deep-dive into 20 classic drinks that make up the foundation of cocktail creation, and the delicious variations that will make them all your own.

Learn to craft a perfect, classic drink, or workshop that creation into a unique, flavor-forward spin with
The Cocktail Workshop, an indispensable guide to foundational cocktails and the tools to elevate them into master-level creations. In this richly illustrated book, the team behind Philadelphia's beloved Art in the Age guides aspiring mixologists through the fundamentals of 20 essential cocktails. Then, each foundational drink is spun off into creative and customizable riffs on flavors, techniques, and ingredients, called Apprentice, Journeyman, and Master versions. Each classic drink is concluded by a Workshop: how to take your at-home bar efforts to the next level with aging, infusing, garnishing, and more.

Drawing on the building blocks of iconic cocktails like the daiquiri and the old-fashioned, readers will grow their knowledge base as they move through each drink, taking away real skills for their home bar -- like the proper way to dry-shake an egg white cocktail or carve a manicured lime twist -- and an understanding of the fundamentals of cocktailing: how drinks are created, related, and integrated.

Given the limitless volume of online how-tos that i can bring up on my phone, it can be hard to justify adding a physical textbook to a bar space. This book absolutely meets that threshold, though, and is a worthy addition to the shelves of beginners and intermediate mixologists. On an information level, it provides clear instructions on what you'll need, how to set your standards when acquiring ingredients and equipment, and what prep work should look like. Aesthetically, the drinks are pictured and described in ways that make you Want to prepare them bust also understand what a finished product should taste like (not always intuitive when you're in a new space).

I started my bar-book library with "The Dead Rabbit" and the Aviary's guide, which i quickly learned was not a wise maneuver. This book from AitA is the idea book for skill-building development, and it has enough enduring value that you'll find it a constant point of reference.

If you want to raise your game to a level of making drinks that impressive even the experienced imbiber, and if you want guidance and instruction that immediately instills confidence, and if you want a text that can be flipped through for a source of immediate accessible inspiration, then this book beats the internet by a country mile.

I've had this book for a few months now, and I find myself going back to it frequently. I love that with each drink, it starts with a basic recipe, and then the recipe's get more elaborate to create different variations of classic drinks. The photos in the book are amazing as well. Highly recommend.

Learning the basics and building on them is the premise of this cocktail recipe book. I especially enjoy the opportunity to not only master the classics BUT to build on them with fun and unique variations. I am looking forward to surprising some cocktail nerd friends with some stellar cocktails on New Year's Eve!
