Slick forever pan

Slick forever pan
Didn't see many pictures of the height of the pan so I included a few. Bonus banana for scale. Wanted to put my cat in there too but don't think he'd stay.I was looking to replace a non-stick skillet that was flaking with something that's lighter than my 10" & 12" cast iron and this fits the bill. Its significantly lighter than my lodge pans so I'm more likely to use it. I gave it a wash after unboxing and tried season it even though it is preseasoned. I put it on the burner with avocado oil, let it smoke and wiped it off but the oil seemed to bead up and not take or only accepted a tiny bit of oil. I decided to drop to eggs in to get a baseline of its non stick performance. Medium head, splash of vegetable oil eggs go in, I give the white a few moments for the whites to firm up and with a very gentle nudge with a spoon it released!Have cooked vegetables, steak, reheated mcnuggets (must try) and the preseason looks relatively undisturbed.

Not some slick and toxic coating like most pans, these take serious breaking and care but are a heck of a value as will last for many years if treated right. My wife loves them, now has quality clad stainless steel, great cast iron and these, no more non stick that never lasts long and most are toxic so free of that as well.

Received today, they come pre seasoned, but also seasoned an additional 3 times to get the non stick going.

I’m an avid cast iron user but not much carbon steel experience. Is it normal to discolor? See picture, smaller pan seasoned not cooked in, larger pan after first use (stove top burgers).

The good: lighter than cast iron, quicker to heat up, smoother surface allows to use less cooking fats.

The bad: shows scratches after first use, normal metal spatula to flip burgers, awkwardly long handle, and the discoloration.

I can see these being used a ton in my kitchen happy with the purchase.

After following all the directions TO THE LETTER for how to clean and season this pan,

After seasoning it completely THREE TIMES before using,

After trying to use it to cook just 1 egg,

This is the result! Food baked on the surface which will not budge after a half hour of scrubbing with warm water and soap JUST LIKE IN THE DIRECTIONS! This is not going to come off, period. It now cannot be re-seasoned because of the food which will not come off! It literally could not stand up to one use with the directions provided!

I gave this as a gift to my son as I had previously bought the same brand blue carbon steel pans for myself. It’s good to know he’s cooking on a safe pan that is very versatile. I use mine all the time!

I've been looking around for a carbon steel skillet for some time, but most of the ones I saw I thought were kind of pricey for what they are, compared to cast iron. This set of two pans was a good deal. I have long been a fan of cast iron cookware, and read that carbon steel pans are lighter in weight. These are not that much lighter, but that's okay. Heat distribution is great. They are easy to clean and season like iron. These are very well made and sturdy, and I'm looking forward to a lifetime of use.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent non-stick pan!

This is a fantastic nonstick pan, as good as any Teflon type pan but much healthier and safer! I don’t know what has made me hesitate to buy such a pan for so long! Why are we even selling those Teflon type pans in stores?! This will last a lifetime and is preseasoned for use right out of the box. I’m very very impressed and will be looking forward to using it on my new induction stove
