My husband has been wanting a HENCKELS knife for a decade, he even went so far as to order a set once but ended up with counterfeits. I was very leery about ordering this for the same reason, but did my research and these are the real deal. The difference was obvious as soon as we got it delivered too. This knife is unbelievable! I've never seen craftsmanship quite like this before. WOW! Worth the money and if you can get one while it's on sale DO IT!!! We got a great deal on ours during Prime days around the holiday and I think we saved 40 or 50 % of what these go for. The knife is incredibly well balanced, sharp, and makes food prep so enjoyable! This knife in particular is a perfect size for my husband, he's pretty tall, and this fits in his grip well. It's really a well made, durable, and beautiful knife. I think we'll be ordering this brand in perpetuity. Like I said, if you can get a good deal - don't miss out!!

I recently purchased this knife for my birthday. Over the summer I worked in a 4 Star restaurant and got pretty handy with a knife. The knives that are used in restaurants are of great quality and sharpened on a regular basis. After becoming a fan of well-made blades, I decided to buy my own for home. I did a lot of research and finally decided on this J.A Henckels 8" Chef’s knife. One of the reasons I decided on this knife was because I know that they are a favorite of world class chef Gordon Ramsey. I am so glad that I decided on this knife.
The knife comes out of the package extremely sharp. I knew that I would eventually need to re-sharpen the blade, so I bought a sharpener with a fine and coarse setting. I used this knife daily on about everything you could imagine, and it held its edge extremely well. It wasn't until about after a month of constant use that I noticed the edge to dull a little bit. It was at that point that I used my I.Q. kitchen blade sharpener on it. The blade turned out to be as sharp as new. Overall, the blade is extremely well made and holds its edge very well. I would suggest the purchase of a quality blade sharpener so that you can keep your knife in brand new condition.
The handle of the knife is also very well made. It is very well balanced and fits in my hand perfectly. It feels as though the blade is just an extension of your hand, that is how well constructed it is. My girlfriend with much smaller hands than mine also finds that it is extremely comfortable for her to use. I think that the material used on the handle is also very comfortable to hold. It his great grip and is also very easy to clean.
I never put my knife in the dishwasher and that helps maintain sharpness. I clean it with a sponge and dish soap and it cleans very well. It is also rust resistant, so I am able to let it air dry.
This is the perfect knife for someone looking for a quality chef’s knife at a reasonable price. I am extremely happy with my purchase and I will be purchasing a full set in the future.

I knew Henkels knives’ reputation for quality but I also noticed that so many of those listed are made in China which made me skeptical of the integrity of the materials being used. But when I zoomed in on the image of this particular one it had Made in Spain burnished in the blade. I ordered to for my son and told him to make sure it had Made in Spain on it when he received it. It did and he is so pleased. Yay! Mama did good. Lol

- Razor sharp(hope it will be so for long time)
- Blade and handle are made of single piece of steel.
Dislikes:
- Both edges of the spine are not rounded, may cut your finger!

Suggestion to users:
- If you use silverware organizer, be careful around this knife, even slightest touch will cut your finger(happened to me:) )
- 8” size(unless you deliberately buying) might feel little bigger/heavier.

I don't have a lot of experience with NICE knives so this review is from the perspective of someone who has only ever used whatever knives my parents had. Like whatever Costco is selling on a block kinda thing.

Bought this knife as a gift for my bf and I think it's awesome. It's super sharp, can be used for all kinds of things. I looked up a lot of reviews and articles etc. before going with this knife and I am really really happy with it. My bf loves it. He uses it for everything.

There's still some resistance when cutting a butternut squash or something like that but it has made preparing food SO MUCH EASIER and SO MUCH SAFER. Plus, I can cut tomatoes without squishing them!
