How to Care for a Kyocera Ceramic-Coated Nonstick Pan

The nonstick surface allows you to cook a variety of foods without worrying about them sticking to the pan. The coating is also safe and non-toxic. Proper care and use of your ceramic coated fry pan will ensure you enjoy all of the benefits for a long time. Use only wooden, silicone, plastic or nylon cooking utensils on ceramic cookware. Store a ceramic fry pan separately from other cookware, especially other ceramic. Wash the fry pan in warm water before the first use. Towel dry it well, then condition the pan by rubbing the surface with a paper towel moistened in cooking oil. Lightly coat the inside surface of the ceramic fry pan with oil before you start cooking. Do this each time you cook with the pan, unless the food is high in fat content, which will coat the pan itself. Cook with low or medium heat in your ceramic fry pan. Ceramic cookware heats evenly and retains heat well, so medium or low heat is all that's needed. Using high heat causes foods to stick to the pan, which can discolor or damage the surface. Rinse the fry pan in warm water promptly after cooking to remove excess food and grease. Avoid letting it sit on the hot stove-top, which can damage the pan. Clean your ceramic fry pan with warm water and a soft sponge or dish cloth. Dish soap isn’t necessary except in the case for stubborn stains. Soak the pan in hot water for 30 minutes before washing, if burnt food is caked on the pan.

This skillet does everything I expected for cooking. NO problem there--and NO sticking IF you use a spray-oil on the dry, to be heated surface. Yes, eggs will stick without the spray!
However, the handle is another issue altogether! IF your hands are wet, albeit sweating, washing/rinsing in the sink, DO NOT attempt to lift/hold this handle with any weight/food in the skillet. Gripping power in my hand is reasonably strong; nevertheless, the polished metal handle acts as though water on my hands renders my gripping power useless--like having sprayed the handle with grease--if hands are wet. Hence, use hot-pads--not for heat, for gripping.

I recommend this pan without reservation and I'm not the kind of person to do so gratuitously. The ceramic coated surfaces still look new even though we use it frequently (3-5 times/week). This is by far the best "non-stick" frying pan we've had and we've been buying/trying them for 30 years without endorsing one until now. Truth is, I've enjoyed using this pan since day 1, but I wanted to use it for an extended period before commenting.

I will say I'm not a "non-stick" purist, I always use a little oil or butter to fry and I've learned to allow foods to fry long enough to"release" from the pan before moving/flipping them.

The pan's thick bottom distributes heat well and it worked great again (this morning) when I fried 6 eggs at one time with a sliver of butter (1/3 of a pat) melted & brushed across the bottom and up on the sides.

We typically use silicone or non-metallic utensils in this pan, but it stands up to metal utensils as long as one uses them gently and doesn't "dig in" with them. I don't hesitate to use a metal fork to flip/stir foods (chops, bacon, home-fries, etc.)

Absolutely simple & fast cleanup with soap & hot water. I have several 12" lids that work great on this pan.

I've had great success with Amazon Warehouse Deals - If I were to buy another, I'd buy the one there priced at $39.65

After about 3 months of use food sticks to it even worse than a regular aluminum pan. It started out amazingly nonstick, but even though we were always careful to never use metal tools and to wash it by hand, it completely lost it's non-stick coating within a few months. Now everything sticks to it. After one particularly bad dinner where we tried to sear some tofu (with plenty of oil) and it all completely stuck on, we just threw it in the garbage, stuck on tofu and all. Don't waste your money.

I can't believe it took me so long to find a pan that was so non-stick. Nothing sticks to it and everything slides when you shake the pan. I avoid scratching to maintain the non-stick surface. The pan has good weight to it and is easy to clean.

Bought this fry pan to go with a new induction cooktop. The pan arrived from Amazon with chipped ceramic nonstick at the lip in several places and a film on the inside of the pan like someone used it and cleaned it off with just paper towel. Obviously, I got a used/returned pan even though Amazon said they were selling a new pan. Surprisingly very poor quality control from Amazon at the return receipt end and at the final point of shipping from the warehouse. I returned it and received a replacement in new condition that confirms the suspect first pan. On to the pan itself. The pan has good weight but not as heavy as other more pricey ceramic nonsticks good for induction, and not as thin and light as the cheap Martha Stewart all aluminum ceramic pan I had. The pan cooked very well, heating up just as quickly as my Al-Clad cookware. Evenness is also about on par as my Al-Clad/induction combo, so really good. Handle angle was not as steep as Al-Clad and because of my height and counter height, I really appreciate the flatter handle. Ceramic did not stick but with all non stick surfaces, I'm hoping this one does as well as my "cheap" MS pan that is 3+yrs old with a surface that's still great. The pan is flat, a necessity for induction tops, and the curve from the bottom of the pan to the sides is very steep. Still I was able to flip eggs easily. Overall, and especially with the price factored in, this appears to be a great purchase (assuming you get a new pan).

This product was flawlessly made, packaged, and delivered. I was unable to obtain the 10" at a local cook's retail store, where I bought the 8" Kyocera fry pan two years ago. This fry pan enables me to cook perfect eggs, Monsieur Croque sandwiches, sweet potatoes, sausages--all with little or no butter/oil or minimal water. Be prepared for compliments about your new cooking skills.
And what could surpass a virtually effortless clean-up? Just Dawn, water and a sponge are all that is needed to return the pan to spotless condition. No stuck-on mess that needs to soak before releasing from the "non-stick" pan.

I was having problems with food sticking to this skillet from the first use. Tried using for a couple of months, but didn’t improve. Otherwise, a good, heavy pan. But this is not the main reason for purchasing a non stick. Eggs were especially bad to stick. They stuck so bad, it required scrubbing that probably damaged the not-so-non stick coating. I cannot recommend this product.

If you’re looking for a quality non-stick skillet, I’ve had excellent results from the T-fal frying pan. I had a 12” T-fal that lasted about 4 years. It was visibly scratched, but still, nothing I cooked in it would stick. I also have a 7 1/2” T-fal in great shape after 3 years of use.

It was great when they were brand new. About 6 months later they still look great, except they are now the stickiest surface in my house. Using a stick of butter to fry one egg will have that egg semi-permanently fused to the frying pan.
I stopped using them because it's too much to have to soak them overnight every time I fry anything at all.
I contacted amazon who told me because it's outside of their warranty I have to contact kyocera, so I contacted kyocera who wouldn't respond for a month and after several emails finally responded and offered 2 options: ship the pans for an inspection at my expense for a possible replacement or buy a new set at 1/2 price. No thank you. I will throw them away and make it a point to never buy anything kyocera again...
