    Bought through the Samsung site instead of Amazon. Will update with pictures and videos tomorrow, and update after a month of typical use to see how it holds up. So far, I've been using the phone for about 8 hours and I am in love. My prior phone is the Pixel 7 pro, though I've used various phones throughout the years, including iPhones and other Samsungs. My last Samsung was the Note 7, and I am not a tech reviewer or enthusiast by any means, so this review is more an average Joe impression.

    The main reason I bought the Z Flip 5 is because I am a girl, and we tend to have smaller hands (and pockets lol). This phone has already proved to be much better for commute and travel for me. I cannot get over how good this phone feels in my hand. It's incredibly thin and the material feels good to hold. And I think this may be a controversial opinion, but I love the size of the smaller, outer screen. I don't have much difficulty with typing on it or using it for simple, on- the- go tasks. Which is why it's disappointing that they didn't utilize the capability of the mini screen to its full potential. I would love a fully functional, miniaturized outer screen. While we'll see what updates are made to expand the functionality of the mini screen beyond a fancy widget reader.

    I will say, I was anticipating the Z Flip to be noticeably smaller than my Pixel 7 pro, the Flip is a bit thinner and not much shorter (though it is noticeably thinner and lighter). The max brightness and audio volume are noticeably more powerful with my Flip. As long as light conditions are okay in your environment, the middle crease is not really conspicuous.

    So far, everything seems to have transferred between the phones without much hassle, and the apps are running smoothly. The camera is nice is standard lighting from the little I've used it today, I plan to test in a number of different environments.

    So, first impression: genuinely love it. Feels like a phone made for women (or just smaller or more mobile people). It feels amazing to hold and use. Everything is clean and sleek and nice to look at. The only real complaint I have at this time is the underutilized mini screen, and I hope they update that to do more in the future. If you're looking for a more compact smartphone, I would recommend waiting for another deal on this thing and buy (I do think the full price is a bit steep, with the pre-order sale and trade-in I only paid $350-$400ish.

    I just replaced my old Galaxy S20FE 5G with this latest and greatest from Samsung and have to admit I have some buyers remorse. The latest Flip is a slick device, very fast, lots of storage and the folding bit IS an advantage, since it makes it easier to carry around and can do some new tricks that older phones cannot.

    That said, I was surprised by how many downgrades I got when I moved to a much newer folding phone: A smaller battery, a much inferior camera, no superfast charging, reduced display quality, inferior sound quality on phone calls, far more fragile overall,,.. all an inevitable result of the folding design. This is all the more surprising, given the S20 FE was a three year old "budget" phone and this is a new "flagshsip." model, So the fact my old phone was much better than the new one on many fronts is a bit surprising

    Ah, you say, but the new one is a FOLDING PHONE! Which is true. And there are advantages that come with that. Just be aware you may be getting less than you bargained for if you decide to go this route.

    On the plus side, the new larger outside window on this latest model is a great convenince and should save some wear and tear on that folding screen. You can get notifications, weather, stock quotes, check your calendar or set timers there...and even recieve and send texts or take phone calls. No need to open the phone.

    Only Samsung designed widgets operate on the outside screen for now, because the smaller screen requires special programming. And there are not very many of those yet. But expect more in the future.
    When half open, the phone can also do a split screen thing (if the app supports it) with the top part of the screen doing something different than the bottom (like doubling as a virtual keyboard)

    Those kind of new tricks, which only a folding phone can do, may be enough to make the sale for some people.

    One other note of warning. The folding screen comes with a screen protector pre installed and Samsung says it should NOT be removed by the user. Based on the experience of a friend, who is now on his third Flip, this protector will begin to peel away at the fold before the first year is out. Which makes the screen somewhat unusuable until replaced, since you cannot see the screen under the fold. Samsung will pay to have a tech replace the protector in the first year (users should not attempt to do the replacement themselves) but you are on your own after that. Samsung recommends against using the Fold without a screen protector, although my friend did so for several months without issue while using a Flip 4.
    In the end, it's a personal decision on whether the downgrades are worth the upgrades. If you are willing to make those tradeoffs, the Flip 5 is a decent phone.

    Great phone, buy the Samsung Care insurance just to be safe. It's fun to use, compact, and an interesting conversation piece. I do find myself missing my S23+ battery life and screen clarity though. The crease on the Z Flip 5 causes all kinds of reflections BUT the screen size makes it wonderful to hold in smaller hands.

    However, my biggest complaint is how Samsung missed the mark on giving us useful apps/widgets for the cover screen. By downloading Good Lock we can bring out the potential..... but come on Samsung -- this shouldn't need a workaround.

    Big Cover Screen Misses:
    -No phone dialer widget/app by default. Can only set top 6 contacts to call.
    -No messaging app by default. Can only reply to incoming messages.
    -No support for Google apps - locked into Samsung calendar, clock etc. (this is especially annoying because I prefer Gcalendar and by disabling Samsung Calendar, the calendar widget stops working)
    -Weather widget is not interactive, can't view radar or other locations.
    -No news widget.
    -No Spotify or YT Music widget. Only pops up if you're now playing something.
    -No wallet widgets. There's a swipe shortcut to activate Samsung Pay but I'd rather have a full widget.
    -No Instagram or Snapchat widget. I find this strange for a social media phone.

    Had two.
    Both stopped folding completely opening. Samsung is fully aware of the issue. Folding issued are not covered by warranty. Get insurance but will cost around 150.00 for replacement. Most fix placeswill.not touch the issues. Att says says..user abuse..
    Two at same time. No way.
    More movable parts.more to break. Otherwise phone works well..
    But never again for me.
