This pie dish costs $55.50. You can easily find a metal one for $3-10, a glass one for $15-20, ceramic for $30 and disposable ones for 50-80 cents each. I have used and owned all of these options.
This is my go to pie dish, and currently own 6. I believe it more evenly distributes the heat and helps my pies and quiches cook more evenly. Unlike the metal ones, I don't scorch the edges of my pies. I tend to cook six pies at a time over the holidays, with so much food in your oven it is easy to scorch the edges of some pies while others are under cooked. I have not had this problem with these dishes.
Lastly, they are beautiful. They make great serving pieces as well.
If you make a lot of pies, consider buying the pie bird as well. I think the pie bird helps cook the center particularly in a cherry pie... but I use them as a decoration in dishes such as quiche or cheesecake because they are so novel.
This is a solid, heavy dish. I like that feature. I use both hands to add or remove dishes from the oven. My grandmother would have hated these for the same reason. She was tiny and often used one hand to add or remove dishes from the oven.

Warning Great Pan, Poor Packing Method.
The product itself works great, I picked it up form a local shop for a higher cost and was not disappointed. I have used both glass and metal pie dishes before with success but this one produces a much better crust.This is a warning for anyone ordering this product off Amazon as their packing method has lead to me receiving a broken pie pan and a broken replacement pie pan. Pictures are of the replacement as received. If you are expecting to use it for the holidays or as a gift it might be risky ordering it from amazon especially with this being a busy season for the mail services.
