This travel pillow is a lifesaver on the plane! Slept through my 5 hour flight with ease. The Turtl does a wonderful job of keeping your head in one place compared to the regular neck pillow.It's also very easy to put on while on the plane, and I like that it comes with a traveling bag to keep it clean.Took off a star because after using the side strap once, the strap started fraying and is now literally hanging on by a thread. This is just from carrying around strapped to my bag in the airport.

I've worked for a major airline for the past 20 years, so I travel a lot for business and leisure. I feel like I've tried every kind of travel pillow there is. None have worked. I cannot stand those horseshoe pillows that push your neck forward, or the micro-bead pillows that don't support your head good enough/high enough when you lean your head sideways. So when a friend told me about the TRTL pillow, I was intrigued. It seemed to be just the solution I needed!

I ordered a grey one just before a trip from the US to Europe, and tested it out. I'm pleased to say, the TRTL pillow works as advertised. The material is super soft and I love that it's washable. The plastic supports inside the pillow (scarf, really) were strong enough to work well, but still a tiny bit pliant. It doesn't fold up completely flat in your bag, but it really doesn't take up much space - and the video online even shows how you can attach it to the outside of a bag/backpack if you need to. Unlike some reviewers here, I didn't think the velcro stuck to anything that it wasn't supposed to. It does take a little bit of practice to wrap the 'scarf' just the right way to make sure the supports are in the best position and it fits snugly, but it's not difficult at all. I'm 5'11" and have a very long neck, and I thought the TRTL held my head at just the right angle to sleep. My travel buddy is more like 5'4" and she also had no problems with hers. Some say that the material is too hot - I think that's just a matter of personal preference. I find planes to usually be too cold (airlines keep the temperature cold vs. warm to reduce airsickness), so I thought the added warmth from the 'scarf' of the TRTL pillow was nice.

Did I get a whole bunch of hours of fabulous sleep because of the TRTL? No, but that's not because of the pillow - it's because I'm tall and main-cabin airline seats are torture chambers, so I couldn't get my legs comfortable enough to fall asleep. BUT, for once in thousands of miles that I've flown, my neck lolling about with no place to comfortably rest was NOT the problem. I definitely think the TRTL is the style of travel pillow that makes the most sense, and is the most ergonomically correct, of any travel pillow I've used.

I'm going to be taking this on every long-haul flight I have from now on and have already recommended it to friends and colleagues in the travel industry.

As an aside, the customer service from TRTL Customer Care was fantastic. They wrote to thank me for my purchase, sending helpful tips for its care and use, including a video, some picture tutorials, and some FAQs. Then they later wrote to ask how I liked the product, and to ensure I didn't have any problems using it. They definitely seem concerned about the quality of their product and their customers being satisfied with it.

Overall, this is a thumbs up for me.

I liked this product but didn’t love it. Realistically it’s more of a 3.5 star. It was helpful on several long haul flights. I did sleep a little but my head definitely bobbed forward multiple times waking me up. This is the first product I’ve used without getting a sore neck. So that in itself is a plus! I would use this again, the fleece is soft and comfortable. I even used it as a makeshift small blanket on one flight when I was freezing! It was nice to have the extra covering. I was also able to use the wrap to cover my face and shut out some of the light at times. The Velcro is very strong and makes a lot of noise when pulled to open the bag and release the wrap when the neck suppport is in use. The product easily fit in my carry on bag and was easy to take out and put away.

I ordered some of the top rated travel pillows on Amazon to try them out before my big trip. I am 5'1", about 118 lbs., and pretty petite so finding a travel pillow has been even more difficult than it is for "normal height" people. I've been dealing with upper back and neck instability and pain for YEARS so it was of utmost importance to find something that will allow me to sleep in both the plane and on our long drives. I compared this pillow against the J Pillow, the CABEAU, and the Original FLEXi 4-in-one and this was definitely the best for my small size.

I like the design of this "pillow". While the picture makes it look kind of like a sock that you would pull over your head, it is really a hard plastic frame inside soft fleece scarf. You put the frame against your neck and little "arms" are on both the top and bottom to keep your neck upright and your head away from your shoulder. It doesn't sound comfortable but it actually is! I haven't been able to try it in the plane yet, but I fell asleep in it sitting on my couch. I didn't have any problems with my head falling forward and it felt quite supported. The fleece wraps around your neck and you can adjust how tight it is by pulling it tighter (like a scarf) and it secures with Velcro. There are helpful stickers attached to the fleece when you get it that show you what part to put against your head/shoulder, where the back of your head should go, etc. It took me one or two tries to get it right but after that it was easy.

You can remove the plastic support/frame from the fleece so you can wash the fleece covering. The Velrcro doesn't really adhere to the fleece, so you don't have to worry about destroying the nice soft fleece.

One of the things I like about it a lot is that ability to really wash it. So many of these travel pillows have removable covers, but you can't actually wash the pillow part itself. I had a memory foam eye mask that I loved but you couldn't wash the whole thing and it got really gross. There are always a few situations where you wake up sweaty, and just the oils from your face and/or your makeup can seep in to the foam and I can only assume nasty things happen in there. The Trtl Pillow will never have that problem as you can throw the entire fleece cover in the wash, leaving just the plastic frame behind. There is some padding in part of the fleece but it is thin enough that it should dry without any issues in the foam.

I don't know if it is really supposed to be used like this, but I also tried it out as a lumbar support and it worked ok for that purpose on my couch.

I also like that you don't need to be in a seat with a headrest to use it. I can use it sitting up in my dining room chairs. I imagine this will be INCREDIBLY useful the next time I have a sinus infection when I can't lay down because of too much head congestion.

The one draw back of this pillow is that your head is going to be resting on one side and if you want to tilt your head to the other side you need to take the Trtl Pillow off and put it on the other side of your head. Also, I ordered the "Black" color but it is really more like a dark grey. It isn't anything near as black as it is in the pictures. That isn't really a big deal to me, but some people are very particular about the color of their purchases.

Over all it is a well-designed product, the fleece is nice and cozy, you can use this in seats with and without a headrest, it is actually WASHABLE, and it is pretty compact so it wouldn't take up too much room in your luggage.

I purchased various other less costly options.. but this is the only one I kept. The base model has fit me perfectly on 4 flights so far. I am 6 ft tall and my 5.5 ft wife loves it too (read - I may need to get her one).

well done for the simplistic effective design that accommodates various positions and reduces neck strain, stiffness, etc by providing just enough support to not let your head fall to far forward or to the side. I am sold!

This product does not live up to what it says it does. I had the worst 16 hour flight going on holiday and ended up buying a regular travel memory foam travel pillow on my flight back. This product is completely over priced and doesn't do what it says at all.
