Pretty plate, and pretty pies!
I am a bit of a baking newbie, but I have been trying more and more new things, and so I am glad I gave in to the urge to buy this plate.Clean-up - I've had no problems with sticking or stains so far. The smooth surface cleans up quite easily. I usually hand-wash everything except my plates and utensils, so not sure how this stands up to the dishwasher, but I am personally not interested.Looks - This is gorgeous with thick and wavy flutes. It looks nice with or without food in it.Color - Although I was tempted to go with "Sage" because I love green, I chose the neutral "Wheat" and it sure is pretty. I love the warm, creamy color, and it looks nice with all kinds of pie and quiche.Durability - So far so good. This item is hefty and with care I imagine it will last a good long time. It has gone from freezer to oven to bake crusts, so it seems sturdy even with temperature flux. The finish has appeared durable so far, but my mom took a carbon steel butcher knife to my first quiche before I noticed, asked her to halt and handed her blunt knife. It does have a long score mark from that event. I don't know what she was thinking, I suspect she was distracted by the yummy smelling food and being hungry, but don't make that mistake unless you want to ruin the finish.Manufacturing Location - It was made in China. I wish it weren't but even Le Creuset stoneware, despite it's high cost, is now made in places like this. There are a couple brands that still make their stoneware in less sketchy places, like France, but those companies were higher cost than even Le Creuset. As a newbie baker, and person on a small budget, I simply couldn't justify the expense. Maybe someday, more things will be made in the USA again. For now we can at least get some things, like Lodge's cast iron cookware. But with this pie pan, or any one at a similar price point? No, not yet.Note - I uploaded a picture of my first pastry crust + quiche, and it's a bit ugly, but it sure tasted good and it looks pretty nice in the HIC pie pan! Hope the picture helps. :-)

I never write reviews, but I just had to because this is pie plate is incredible. I love to bake and I love pie, but my pies crusts have always been ugly. Quite hideous, actually. However, with this plate, anyone can crimp the edges like a pro. I hang my head in shame no more. Previously, I only cooked pies at home and for family that wouldn't judge. I can now take pies that look nice AND taste good to potlucks and parties. The pictures posted are of my very first pie with it (apple). I still can't make pretty crusts by myself and I may never be able to. But, with this plate, I don't have to- it does it for me and its easy! I highly recommend it- well worth the price in my opinion.

I think this may be my new "go to" pie plate. I collect all kinds of ceramic pie plates as I prefer baking in ceramic. The HIC Ceramic Perfect Pie Plate did not disappoint. It's the perfect size and, it's not too deep and not too shallow. I love the edging of this pie plate as you can choose to follow the edging to make a wavy crust or you can stop your dough just inside the "ledge" of the wave, and use a fork to make notches or however you would prefer to edge it. Lots of possibilities here. I ordered it in wheat and I am going back for another color soon. My pecan pie came out perfectly done and looked so pretty. Because of the wide wavy edge, it was easy to handle and remove from the oven. This pie plate is a winner!

I bake a lot, but I actually never bake pies. So, when I decided to try a new pie recipe, I started searching for a pie dish. I loved the pretty color and scalloped edge. This dish has a god weight and is easy to clean. It baked my pie well, so I am pleased. It may be difficult to tell if your bottom crust is done since the dish is opaque, but everything worked out for me.

This pie plate is so pretty! I wasn't quite sure just what to expect the "bayberry" color to be. I still don't know how to describe it, but it is lively grayish blue--not teal and not turquoise. Anyway it is quite attractive. I expect I'm going to have to order the baking dish in this color! It seems a bit shallow, but handled my lemon meringue pie very nicely. I did not use the scalloped edges for my crust, but left them bare for the contrast. My crust was not soggy--I used the Classic Crisco recipe for the food processor because I have developed arthritis in my fingers and hands and cutting in the Crisco is painful. Works great! I have ordered this dish in the rose color with the recipe booklet also.

I love this red ceramic pie dish.
My only wish would be that it was bigger.
It’s great for a dessert that you don’t need to feed the masses with. I’ll have to keep using my Pyrex deep dish and jolly green giant sized dishes for feeding small gatherings with pot pies and sweet treats.

I had this pie plate in the blue. Decided to also get the red since I sometimes have 2 pies going at the same time. Really nice presentation!

So many reviewers voicing positive aspects on this pie plate, mostly because of the fluted edge I believe. Since it was Summer and I was swept up in my yearly fresh fruit pie frenzy, I thought I'd feel the same. Not really. I actually found it harder to flute with that edge on it. I have glass, metal, terracotta, and ceramic pie plates.....I am the "Kitchen Princess" ya know! Although this ceramic plate baked well, I find I should have just saved my money and stick with my wonderful Chantal ceramic pie plate......my overall choice when baking fruit pies!
