We are hiring a Corporate Affairs, Senior Manager with a focus on China Corporate Affairs matters.


1) About us:

Asahi Europe & International ("AEI") is part of Asahi Group Holdings, a global beer, spirits, soft drinks, and food group listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, Japan. It has leading positions in European and Asia-Pacific markets.

Asahi Beer Asia (ABA) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Asahi Europe & International (AEI) dedicated to growing the Group's global and premium brands in Asia. We currently focus on five key markets - China, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea, and Taiwan – and are committed to delivering on our great taste promise to customers across the region.


2) About the role:

The Corporate Affairs Manager, Asia and China, plays a key role in Asahi Asia's promotion and safeguarding of our company, brand image, and reputation. The incumbent will formulate and execute strategies to manage the engagement and communications with the dynamic network of external media and stakeholders, including government, regulatory bodies, industrial, environmental, responsible drinking-related and community stakeholders, etc., and internal employees in China and other markets across Asia, that align with the overall the Group’s commercial and business agenda and communications initiatives.


The job holder will be based in Shanghai, China, managing the full Corporate Affairs agenda in China as the main focus. He or she will also have to cover other markets in terms of developing and executing a strong internal and external communications strategy and plans across the business units in Asia and building and maintaining senior stakeholder relationships externally.


Key Responsibilities:

External communications and stakeholders’ engagement:

  • Develop and execute external and digital communication strategies and plans for company brand promotion and protection in collaboration with relevant teams and external partners (if necessary).; identify key topics, stakeholders, and priority markets to focus on. Adopt a holistic and cross-market approach to ensure and create synergies within the region.
  • Manage media monitoring based on local needs and support the monitoring and follow-up of media/consumer/customer feedback and requests.
  • Manage crisis/sensitive external communications. Handle crisis management communication activities with close engagement and alignment with (Regional HQ) AEI Corporate Affairs and Asia Management teams.
  • In cooperation with AEI Corporate Affairs, build and manage media relations with key media in the region relevant to our business.
  • Ensure full alignment between external communications objectives and needs and full alignment with regional and global team.
  • Ensure on-time and top-quality compliance with existing regional alcohol self-regulatory commitments, including monitoring and reporting the outcomes.
  • In cooperation with the marketing team, support the execution of brand PR activities, including events, as required.
  • Develop and provide recommendations on regular Asia success stories and content for AEI Corporate external dissemination (Website, LinkedIn).
  • Manage communications/corporate affairs related to budget and annual review process.
  • Build internal capabilities in alcohol responsibility with a focus on marketing and trade marketing, prepare educational materials, and provide consultancy for marketing related to commercial communication.
  • Lead compliance of all commercial communication with relevant policies and manage the process of compliance checks within the Sales and Marketing Compliance Committee.
  • Advise Asia regional management teams on government affairs and reputation-related risks and issues.
  • Engage with relevant stakeholders on key regulatory issues; engage with relevant wider industrial associations and bodies.

Internal communication and engagement:

  • Formulate and implement impactful Asia’s Internal Communications strategy and plan efficiently through translating business strategies into key messages, develop appropriate internal communications initiatives and materials to support those strategies, and execute and drive engagement events and programs that create excitement, drive engagement, align teams, and shape culture.
  • Manage the dissemination of AEI Corporate Internal Communications provided by the global team (CEO’s vlog, project communication, strategy communication, regional campaigns).
  • Draft internal communications, ensuring well-targeted and consistent messages internally aligned with AEI’s internal communications strategy.
  • Provide communications advice and guidance to Asia Management teams.
  • Support building a strong corporate identity, including visual identity and reputation management, and ensure the consistent implementation of corporate identity guidelines.
  • Manage the internal communication tools and channels, including the mailbox and the internal portals (when available) for Asia markets. Manage content and messages across these tools and channels to ensure they are up-to-date, consistent, engaging, and informative.
  • Lead the management of Creative Agencies to deliver assets for internal communication as required (video, graphic design assets)
  • Be the Corporate Affairs (CA) interface/key point of contact for Asia as well as for global team.
  • Create and organize volunteering activities and opportunities for Asia employees.
  • Organize and manage any Asia-wide conferences and major events for external stakeholders except consumers.

Others:

  • Support developing and implementing a wider Sustainability-related agenda for Asahi Asia in collaboration and alignment with AEI-related policies and agenda.
  • Support any ad-hoc projects when required.


We might be a potential match if you are/have:

  • Solid experience in stakeholder engagement, public affairs, corporate affairs, policy influencing/advocacy, program management, and sustainability.
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, languages, communications, marketing, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in English and Chinese, as well as understanding other Asian languages, will be a plus.
