    🎉Our investment subsidiary Ping An Asset Management(PAAMC) ranked 33rd globally in TOP 500 Asset Managers 2024 by Investment & Pensions Europe (IPE), went up three spots to become the third in Asia. Established in 2005, PAAMC manages Ping An’s insurance funds and provides third-party asset management services to domestic and overseas clients. AUM amounted to RMB5.03 trillion (approximately USD692 billion) at the end of 2023.     China’s fast aging population is presenting substantial business opportunities for financial services companies.   China is Aging Before Becoming Rich   China entered the phase of an aging society in 1999 when the GDP per capita was only US$1,000, resulting in less financial capacity to support senior care.   Today, the challenge in China is that retirement replacement ratio is low while there is lack of awareness of importance of financial planning for senior care. Michael Guo, our Group Co-CEO at the "Summer Davos" in Dalian pointed out that there is increasing demand for capital preservation and appreciation to build a “personal pension reserve” in the wealth management business.   The lack of coherent, quality senior care services in China also brought about opportunities for companies like Ping An. We are leveraging our base of 234 million retail customers to select the best service providers and set standards in the market. The strength of Ping An lies in its ability to integrate providers into a comprehensive, technology-empowered senior care service platform that can meet customers’ personalized needs.   Seamless Integration of Financial Products and Senior Care    Our integrated solutions comprise financial products offering insurance protection, wealth appreciation and inheritance, and healthcare and senior care services for health management, chronic disease management, medical consultations and rehabilitation, residence security, guardianship and entertainment.    Technological empowerment plays an important role in Ping An’s senior care strategy.     Michael Guo, Ping An Group’s Co-CEO, was on Bloomberg TV at the World Economic Forum Dalian commenting on the challenges and opportunities faced by insurers in China as well as Ping An’s strategy.   With the size of China’s economy, there could be big and small turns, and sharp turns as well. Michael strongly believed that the economy is going to regain its growth momentum going forward, and the quality of this growth will be much higher than what we had experienced before. As insurance depth and penetration are still low compared to developed markets, there is very strong growth potential for Chinese life insurance industry.   Looking at the broader picture of the whole Chinese economy, and where the whole financial services, particularly the insurance industry is heading towards, Ping An sees aging being a very important issue for the industry to address.   The challenge is that most of the Chinese people are not really ready or very well prepared to deal with the aging issues like how to finance a longer and healthier life. This is where the insurance industry can help. Ping An has modified our strategy to one of "integrated finance + health and senior care" to meet our retail customer needs for financial planning and care services.   Our new business value grew 20.7% in first quarter of 2024 while NBV margin up 6.5 pps. Productivity of our life agents went up and more importantly, their average income also increased, which is critical to keep high performance agents. Michael Guo said "Moving forward, we do have a good sense that our business is going to continue to grow strong."   Against a low interest rate backdrop which is expected to continue for a while, the regulator of the insurance industry has been taken very active measures to proactively manage the potential risk for the investments return versus the cost of the liability mismatch.     🌟 Ping An upgrades family doctor offerings to deliver higher standard one-stop healthcare services 🌟   China is actively building up a family doctor contract system to improve primary healthcare. We recently announced an upgrade of our one-stop family healthcare management services, “Ping An Family Doctor”, which includes   •  Comprehensive online and offline services on health management, chronic disease control, and full disease management tailored for different patient groups •  Professional family doctors holding dual certification from Peking University International Hospital and the World Organization of Family Doctors (WONCA) •   Standard service process guided by the General Practice Branch of the Chinese Medical Association and certified by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP)   📊 As of 2023, users with our family doctor membership were close to 13 million.     🔓🔑 Unlocking China’s Silver Economy The rapidly aging population in China is bringing about a burgeoning market for senior products and services. In 2023, the silver economy contributed RMB 7 trillion to China’s GDP, representing 6% of the total. This sector is projected to expand to RMB 30 trillion by 2035, accounting for 10% of GDP. Ping An is deploying an ecosystem-based strategy integrating payors and providers to deliver customised, quality health and senior care services to tap into this fast growing market. As of the end of 2023, nearly 64% of our 234 million customers utilized our health and senior care services. They held approximately 3.37 contracts and RMB55,900 in AUM per capita, 1.6 times and 3.5 times those held by non-users of these services respectively. Last year, our Life & Health new business value (NBV) saw significant growth, with a 36% year-on-year increase, reaching RMB 39,262 million.     Managing a RMB 4.93 trillion insurance portfolio to achieve long-term stable returns across different economic cycles is no small feat.    Over the past decade, the average comprehensive investment yield of Ping An’s insurance funds investment portfolio was 5.4%, higher than the embedded value long-run investment return assumption.   Our Chief Investment Officer Benjamin Deng explained how a "double dumbbell" asset allocation strategy managed to do just that in the recent AsianInvestor Summit held in Hong Kong.    He also highlighted the investment potential in China’s energy transition. The demand for green and low-carbon investments in China is expected to reach RMB 487 trillion over the next 30 years.   Read more: https://bit.ly/3xe1L6g #PortfolioManagement #AssetManagement
