1 video, 947 comments. The Chinese community loves Butterscotch Shenanigans - and their new title, Crashlands 2. Dozens of Chinese comments under the video asking: 💬 “正式版什么时候上啊!!” 💬 "崩溃大陆2什么时候正试发布啊" = “When will the official version of Crashlands 2 be released?!” The first part of this Open World Survival Craft RPG gathered a huge community in China. Since February, Huqiao has been helping them establish their official presence in China and increase wishlists before the release of Crashlands 2. During our cooperation, we managed to: 👉 Increase wishlists from China on Steam by almost 35k 👉 Grow wishlists on Heybox (local distribution platform) by 33k 👉 Achieved over 3 million views on videos from influencers we contacted The demo version is available now -- and we can’t wait to see how the official launch will go. Last but not least, huge thanks to our specialists, Kacper Przybyszewski (朴瀚博) and Weronika Pielasa 夏晓荷 - who made these results possible. Huqiao.pl - we boost your game sales in China

Today a gaming media outlet (GameLook 游戏大观) from China covered one of the games we are proud to be working on - "Songs of Silence", by Chimera Entertainment. One of the aspects praised in the article was openness to feedback from the Chinese community, as well as the willingness to "出境“ talking to gamers directly via video posted on Bilbili, introducing the game itself, plan for improvements and updates. Quote below ;) "值得一提的是,Chimera Entertainmen相当在意玩家社区反馈,尤其同中国玩家交流,这也是当下海外独立开发团队的宣发新趋势。 《寂静之歌》更加直接,在Steam页面挂上官方B站账号的二维码。不仅挨个点赞、收藏UP主试玩视频,团队成员也出镜表达对中国玩家的感谢,同时介绍一系列本地化策略、以及后续优化方向。" It inspired me to share my thoughts about the gaming industry's future. Of course, I am no oracle and could be entirely wrong ;) However - after working for 3 years with various game developers on their Chinese marketing strategies, and monitoring industry trends in China, there is one thing I am certain of - we will see more PC titles coming from 中国. If you want to know what connects electric scooters in Shanghai with PC games - check out the article below.

We came together as a team with a shared vision: to create the games we love. Driven by our passion and creativity, we set out to develop unique and engaging experiences that truly resonate with us and our players. Reflecting on our journey, our greatest achievement so far has been the successful launch of our game Explottens on Apple Arcade. Being one of the first titles to debut on this platform was an incredible experience and a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team. Additionally, we take immense pride in being among the first console game developers in Pakistan. This milestone not only showcases our capability but also puts a spotlight on the emerging talent in our region. Thank you, Huqiao 琥桥, for the opportunity to share our story. It’s moments like these that make the journey worthwhile. 🎮✨ #YourGameDevStory

Sharing my entry for Huqiao 琥桥 #YourGamedevStory competition for "What is your greatest achievement as a game developer so far?": My greatest achievement so far is undoubtedly the release of my firstborn game, 'Let Bions Be Bygones.' The development process was a long and arduous labor, supported steadfastly by my partner and the local community, which helped us establish a dedicated team. The birth had its complications; the game was much larger than expected, leading to many sleepless nights and a few nerve-wracking moments. But with a willpower and drive we didn't know we possessed, we brought it into this world. However, that was not the end of it. The game's state was critical and required extensive care and nurturing. Despite feeling broken and weary, we continued to provide the necessary support, helping it find its feet. With all its faults and quirks, we love it nonetheless and believe it will grow to its full potential, blossoming into a beautiful gem. #GameDev #IndieDev

Hey everyone! I recently joined an event by Huqiao 琥桥 and was invited to share my greatest achievement as a game developer. Such a deep question! 😅 Like many indie developers, I juggle a full-time job while pursuing my passion for game development. 3 cats and a wifey to feed and love. From launching small mobile games at a young age to working with amazing people at Liminal VR on crazy projects like the Liminal Platform (over 500K installs on the Meta Quest Store), it's been quite a ride. I've won some small awards and whatnot, but what am I most proud of as a game developer? It’s the journey itself. I'm proud that I'm still learning, still getting excited about playing games, and figuring out what makes them so fun. My proudest moment so far has to be seeing Monster Hero: Adventures on handheld devices like the Nintendo Switch and the Steam Deck, and showing it off to the people who have supported me along the way. I say, being able to keep the passion and joy I had as a child playing video games is an achievement and blessing! This game draws so much inspiration from my partner, our garden, road trips, and our cats. It has been an incredible journey, and I’m excited to see where it leads next. Check out Monster Hero here and don't forget to Wish List 🎁: https://lnkd.in/gAfeXFR6 #YourGameDevStory

𝗔𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, as a game developer, can be easily measured with numbers and metrics -- total game sales, monthly active users (MAUs), Steam wishlists, etc. For me, these definitions have undoubtedly shifted as I stepped into the industry. I graduated from university witnessing numerous layoffs and studio closures. Somehow, in the midst of the world seemingly turning upside down, I took a leap of faith and started my own indie game studio, kopiforge, to continue working on my final year project, SEDAP!. As many of you know, SEDAP! is a cooking-adventure game where players explore a mysterious island to whip up Southeast Asian delicacies. It was created because I was frustrated with the lack of Southeast Asian representation in video games. As a team (Nadiyah and Jing Ting), we wanted to create a fun experience that could spotlight the cultures and cuisines that we grew up with. When I saw how Overcooked! became the go-to party game for many social circles in Singapore, I wanted to create something that could potentially have the same effect, but with a local twist. It has been an arduous six months with my team as we juggled developing SEDAP! as well as pitching to publishers. Out of the 105 publishers that we've contacted so far, 60% of them did not reply, 39% of them passed on our project, and the remaining 1% are still in the process of reviewing our game. It's harsh, but we've come to accept that this is the reality of working in indie games -- it is extremely competitive. Your game can be fun and likeable, but at the end of the day, it does boil down to whether people have the bandwidth or means to support it. And with each rejection, we definitely got discouraged, and we wondered whether doing all this was even worth it. Nonetheless, we pressed on in spite of the many setbacks thrown our way and helped each other keep our heads held high even in the face of an increasingly tumultuous industry. These challenges have presented us with a myriad opportunities for growth, and we've emerged more experienced and confident than ever. For me, I think the greatest achievement of an indie game dev lies within the unspoken process, and not so much the results. It's learning to have the strength to believe in ourselves and our game. Its holding on to hope after taking rejection after rejection. Our story has been rigorous so far, but I've been cherishing the fun of it. And when we eventually release SEDAP! by hook or by crook, I'm looking forward not to the number of people who buy our game, but the smiles we put on their faces. I'd like to end this post by thanking Huqiao 琥桥, for organising this competition to support indie game developers like us. #YourGameDevStory
