Milu deer, a species native to the subtropical river valleys of China, almost went extinct in the 20th century due to hunting and habitat loss. Only a few deer transported to Europe survived and were brought back to China in 1985. With huge efforts to rebuild its population, the species has now reached nearly 10,000 in China.
Two species of cranes danced and frolicked in the early evening light in the fields of a village in Daqing, Heilongjiang Province. Red-crowned cranes and white-naped cranes were spotted in the area, spreading their wings as they pranced through the grass. Both species are under first-class protection in #China.
China's Chang'e-6 mission collected 1,935.3 grams of samples from the moon's far side, the #China National Space Administration (CNSA) announced on Friday. The samples were handed over to research teams from the Chinese Academic of Sciences at a ceremony held by the CNSA in Beijing. Milu deer, also known as Pere David's deer, is a species native to China under first-class national protection. The Deer King Competition takes place in the Dafeng National Nature Reserve in Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province around June every year. After two male deer compete in a duel, each herd will only produce one "deer king," who has the sole right to mate in the herd.
